@CistReactZ 2:46 That thing is a gizoid called Emerl: a humanoid robot able to copy the abilities of its targets that may be seen as enemy combatants. It first appeared in the Gameboy Advance title "Sonic Battle", but I saw this character in Sonic X. It was after the Shadow saga and the Egg Moon saga. If a chaos emerald is inserted into it, from what I know in the Emerl saga of Sonic X, it'll go berserk. I've only seen certain footages of the game including the final boss, but I will get on the whole game's story soon.

So that robot was a character featured in the 2003 GBA game Sonic Battle named Emerl, whose story is tied to Shadow and Gerald Robotnik. The fight scene depicted a major moment when Emerl was sealed away like Shadow was.

7:58 Essentially shadow was created based on references to a prophecy that relates to Sonic Adventure 1 with Sonic defeating perfect chaos. Some of the research Gerald did led him to Angel Island and the people (echidnas) that used to call it home which he studied in hopes or creating a being who could harness chaos energy. The end goal for that being to cure Maria through the funds he got for Project Shadow.

That's just a theory that was never confirmed, I think it's important to clarify that It's a theory that makes a lot of sense, a theory I believe in, but never was confirmed, people are theorizing it will be confirmed in Gerald's Journal coming up with the physical version of the game (and there's even an entire page about when Shadow found out about Angel Island, which we already knew it happend thanks to the core of the ARK being shaped like the Mystic Ruins/Angel Island), but we don't know yet, it could be just other of Gerald's creations and Shadow, and never mention the topic about the mural And Takashi Iizuka said there ARE reasons why Gerald Robotnik made him a hedgehog that Sonic Team purposefully didn't awnsered yet to this day, we could have awnsers in the Journal, and the theory could be confirmed, but right now they're just theories Also, the theory is not about Shadow being based around the mural of Super Sonic defeating Perfect Chaos, the mural of Perfect Chaos at the end of Lost World in SA1 doesn't show Super Sonic, it only shows Perfect Chaos, the theory says that Biolizard is based around the mural of Perfect Chaos at the depths of Lost World in Sonic Adventure, while Shadow is based around Super Sonic due to the mural in Hidden Palace shown in Sonic 3 & Knuckles where Super Sonic defeats Eggman

It is Black Doom these are his 3 eyes and his hands. He is probably messing with shadows mind, so all this is kind of reliving a memonry in a dream like state with shadow realizing that something is wrong. The robot is Emerl, a weapon of an ancient race able to copy all abilities and weapons it sees (It copied shadows spindash/ball attack in this scene). He comes from Sonic Battle and there in diarys of Gerald this incident is described. Shadow is most likely (this is still kind of a theory) modeld after a murial predicting Super Sonic fighting on Angel Island. Sorry for the long text

4:04-4:11 It's possible that Professor Gerald saw the mural from Sonic 3 and Knuckles since his journal stated that he went to Angel Island and thought that it was about him creating the "Ultimate Lifeform". It was actually Sonic fighting Eggman. Shadow's design looks exactly like Super Sonic's design before it was changed. The mural has that old Super Sonic design.

That robot is Emerl from Sonic Battle (GBA), he's from an ancient civilization of Gizoids, they bind to their master(s) and are very destructive in the wrong hands. The movements Emerl made fighting Shadow is him downloading his data and using it as his own, so he's able to copy everyone he comes across. Emerl was found abandoned in the Mystic Ruins by Gerald Robotnik during his trip to research Project Shadow, and Emerl had no memories remaining. Gerald reawakened Emerl under his allegiance (like Shadow and Eggman in the beginning of SA2), and Emerl was even offered to G.U.N. by Gerald as a diversion to buy more time to work on Project Shadow. Gerald implanted Maria's personality (and memories? correct me if I'm wrong) into Emerl so that he could be pure, but then the attack happened and is initially what led G.U.N. to raid the ARK. The Biolizard raised G.U.N.'s caution, but Emerl was far more dangerous.

Some people theorized that hedgehogs specifically are known to be very powerful compared to other animal species in sonics world. It would explain why silver and sonic are so powerful despite not being biologically created like shadow. So it’s possible Gerald knew this and sought out the species so that Shadow could fulfill his destiny and wield the chaos emeralds. It would make sense why we’ve never seen any of sonics other friends transform like sonic. They just turn a brighter shade while sonic, shadow and silver turn yellow. I don’t know about Amy tho. 🤷‍♀️

The Main theory as to why Shadow looks like Sonic is that Gerald actually visites angel island during his investigations to make a being able of controlling caos energy and was inspired by the mural depicting super Sonic, basing Shadow on it in the same way it had based the biolizard on the perfect chaos depicted in the other ancient murals

To your point that shadow looks like sonic, the theory is that shadow was created to resemble a prophesied “ultimate life form” that is shown fighting a giant robot (Eggman) in a mural within ruins of an ancient civilization. Gerald thought he could bring this prophecy into reality with shadow, yet his absence from Eggmans life inadvertently ended up creating Eggman and the evil depicted in the mural instead. The true ultimate life form is theorized to be Sonic because of his natural affinity to the chaos emeralds.
