Opening in Awe Sega did something for the fans when they brought shadow back even if it's modern Sonic's gameplay, people were just gonna mod him in the game the day it came out.

marcossonicracer you couldn't clone silvers look anyway. All of the species have preset bodies. If you look at Sonic, Shadow, and Silver, as hedgehogs they all actually have very different quill styles. And we aren't gonna be able to choose different quills for the character. And they said all of the characters are modeled after sonic, so the make Hedgehog is likely gonna have sonics quills, or completely different ones that look like crap. Also we wont be able to put in silvers chest fur, or any for that matter. Or his gloves and shoes.

In fact, they're trying to make Shadow the coolest for merchandising, so they're trying to put him everywhere without reason, this DLC is nothing, thank God they made it free, because I swear, if it was payable........ Shadow has no different abilities from Sonic, the stages are just 3, and mostly the same! Probably was more of an after thought after fans complained about not having other playable characters and it was too late to properly fit him into the game, but they didn’t want to look like they were ripping fans off by making them pay for something, so they made it free and day one. Just a guess.

Shadow has literally never had a boost mechanic, but I'm fine with it being here because he's supposed to be more powerful than Sonic anyway. Although what I'm not happy about is him having 2D. Shadow has never once had 2D gameplay, and now they're just throwing him in some cheap lazy 2D Super Mario Maker stage
