those nestled rings would also be a really cool puzzle terain. if you just draw symbols and rotate them to align certain symbols to solve the puzzle and unlock the secret!
@rumo_der_wolpertinger77426 жыл бұрын
Thats just an awesome idea
@TheZapan996 жыл бұрын
Especially if you can only rotate the rings with a series of levers (one of which activates two rings at once) and the party has to fight an endless horde of undead. Once the rings are aligned, they activate a Turn Undead spell, giving the party a rest.

If you want a different way to do a black stone that tends to be rather easy to do, paint it with a medium grey, then hit the entire thing with watered down black acrylic ink. It gives you the look of black stone with little effort in the process while still looking good. You can also use the same thing for some interesting metal or stone appearances...for example, adamantine is described as a purplish black, so use a purple metallic and then the watered down black ink to get the look.

yep, a nice alternate way.

Really great video Scotty. The dragon heads were a superb touch! I love seeing how you've upgraded and improved your craft game over the years. I love seeing the stuff the other masters in the guild do but my favorite thing about you is that your focus is on cheap and recyclable. Upcycling old junk into art is a virtue.

Thanks, I really try to keep it easy and love reusing trash.

Gesso is a great product for miniatures and terrain. I recently got into mini painting and terrain building but as an acrylic artist I have a lot of acrylic paints, texture pastes, gels, and gesso. I couldn't see myself purchasing more acrylic paints even miniature specific brands. Luckily it all can be used cause I prime my miniatures and terrain with Gesso, and paint them with the paints I have. A very helpful tool for someone painting miniatures with artist acrylics is the virtual paint mixer on the Golden paint brand website. With it you can match up any color you need and it will list the recipe to mix it.

I'm loving these videos / series. Great work Scotty! This build is amazing for any fantasy genre, but I feel like you could easily swap out a few elements (the dragons, the runes, etc.) and add in other elements to make it more Steam Punk (gears, alchemical elements) or even post-apocalyptic or sci-fi. Again, you continue to inspire! Thank you as always for your dedication to the craft!

I loved this video! I may try to make these, however I will be using them as shafts that allow you to travel from one level to the next level in the game. In the vanity trip role playing game many shafts are found within the labyrinths. I think these would make an awesome addition to the game table.
@theDMsCraft6 жыл бұрын
Ohhhhhh that is a great idea!
@frankling.robertsiii68116 жыл бұрын
TheDMsCraft In that case, I plan on facing the heads of the dragons toward the inside of the shaft, doing a small bit of chain giving the impression that it goes down the shaft… Kind of like in the Conan the barbarian movie.

You could hide some magnets inside that thing and make it modular. You could attach all kinds of different pillars or other goodies. Heck then you could reuse the attachments with other projects.

Would parchment paper or wax paper work as a diffuser, our would it block too much light?
@michaelsorensen75676 жыл бұрын
It would work, though may be blotchy or more dim than his materials. Another possibility would be plastic milk jugs.

Im curious with these lights, is the camera just over exposing the center of the well making it look white and in person it looks more purple?
@mes23706 жыл бұрын
00zim00 that would be my guess. Happens a lot when photographing a light source. If he exposed for the light itself everything else would be pitch black
@theDMsCraft6 жыл бұрын
Yep, as mark says the exposure makes it look brighter. it is actually more purple.

Scotty the foamboard you use (cant really get it where i live) it it just a board with EPS or is it XPS or what?
@theDMsCraft6 жыл бұрын
called foamboard or foamcore. It is used for signs and has paper on both sides of a foam core board. It is normally thinner than xps

My 5yo daughter wants to know: How does the cellophane make the light look like one big light?
@theDMsCraft4 жыл бұрын
It acts like diffusion that breaks up the light rays....Exactly the same way a cloudy sky gives us soft sunlight.
@callindrill6 жыл бұрын
@DIY Perks just did a video (kzbin.info/www/bejne/epnFfqGHqZZnldE) where he made a youtube light set-up. Not table-top crafting related, but the gel diffusion sheets he used are REALLY inexpensive, and appear to do a great job diffusing light.
