This is a fun series watching you struggle against the odds.

Great! Glad you're enjoying it, it's been really fun to play this

Enjoying seeing a campaign struggling and having to make hard choices due to game design and competent AI rather than the KZbinr not knowing what he's doing. Keep it up.

Thank you, yeah the AI is so much better than it was in previous patches

The dummy attacks to make them run out of fuel faster and stay encircled is really smart.
@battlemode10 ай бұрын
Thanks, although at this point of the game I was also chewing through ammo faster than I could replace it, so it was a risky trick to pull. This is a testament to how detailed the simulation in Shadow Empire is. With a solid understanding of the game mechanics, you can use very nuanced tactics and get good results because of just how many things are modelled.

Always love a good comeback. A rallying of the underdog. Seeing the struggle when you're down to almost nothing and hard decisions need to be made. Does seem that starving the enemy is the more viable conquest method now that bullets are expensive. That should slow down early snowballing.
@battlemode10 ай бұрын
And I feel that really fits with the "survival in a harsh environment" theme of the game! And yes, it's a great anti-snowballing tool for sure.

just because im a idiot line at the start sums up so much of my life. dont feel bad your not alone.

We're all Fool's starting out on a journey, more or less! If it wasn't for the occasional act of idiocy, we'd end up crystalising into fossiled tyrants pretty quickly.

Definitely a tough road ahead (mainly due to the lack of resources on this desert rock); & am curious where all the majors are standing per the Victory Screen. The current neighbor may be the least of your problems. :)

Ah, I'll write a note to check victory scores tomorrow, thank you!

Well played. With regards to trade, I find it close to useless once you move past the early game. Often it's not possible to even buy enough of anything to offset a single turn worth of consumption. Can't import sufficient food, can't buy oil to offset a few vehicles down some roads. It renders money useless and needs some major changes to do anything beyond provide early game utility.
@battlemode10 ай бұрын
Yes once the world is at war, traders aren't so able to get goods around. I'm going to experiment with this in this playthrough.
@Blxz10 ай бұрын
@@battlemode I hope you manage to get it working. I'd love an economic type game.

I don't quite understand why the AI is designing and producing two separate lines of rifle infantry, especially before energy weapons.
@battlemode9 ай бұрын
I do this, sometimes you want to see if you can get a better model for less BP. I've no idea how the AI thinks about such things though.
@Trifler5009 ай бұрын
@@battlemode Well, ok sure, but then we stop using the inferior version. We don't keep iterating on both. Maybe the AI isn't going to iterate anymore on one, but isn't upgrading them to the other version either?

I too would have fought for that metal mine or destroyed it while retreating because it's an economic bonus, like Luxembourg and its shop that sells little things made of straw 😀

It was cool seeing the AI destroy the roads as it went

You're a pretty good player, but you're chaotic. You tend to move troops all over the place, forget some (lie the militia that spawned far away then starved) and tend to overreact to things, such as by selling food, then buying it back. You even forgot to connect a metal mine you took from the enemy 20 turns ago and that would have helped. Still, this style of play is how an actual autocrat would struggle to keep on top of things. An optimized way to do it would be a meticulous and robotic micro.
@battlemode9 ай бұрын
I know this well, sadly it's how I think and I'm constantly fighting my own attention. But I do get stuff done :)
@1Maklak9 ай бұрын
@@battlemodeWell, on one hand, it can be frustrating to watch. On the other hand, it's more entertaining to watch than perfect, methodical micro. On the third hand, it's just the nature of these kinds of games. There are so many interlocking systems, that you will neglect something, unless you spend like an hour per turn, going through all the overlays and reports.
@jamesberkheimer10 ай бұрын
It's painful to watch you just give up that iron mine to the enemy.
@battlemode10 ай бұрын
That wasn't important for me to hold as I can't use it, and the enemy can't get much out of it either. You'll see I recapture it later
@jamesberkheimer10 ай бұрын
@@battlemodeYeah I get that you had to pull back. I would have decommissioned the mine and took the resources and make them waste resources building a new mine. Part of me wonders if your opponent getting tanks was the result of getting that mine back though.
