I love how he runs across the water with ease. It was a huge thing for Sonic in the last movie, both with his fear of water and struggle to get fast enough and Shadow just cruises across it with 0 hesitation.

There's a lot of small details that really nail this intro and properly convey just who shadow is....him cruising casually on the water is a perfect contrast to Sonic.

Well, to be fair, his air shoes most likely have a water hovering system. This makes sense on why he can run on it with ease

Another thing I loved with that scene in particular is when compared to the games, shadow in the movie runs like a scared or trained hamster in a ball. He has his fists balled up and his body leaned forward, kinda like an angry-run, which captures his grief much more than his elegant skater-glide in the games.

He isn’t even running on water he’s literally hovering over it. You’re comparing someone using their actual feet to someone using air shoes to move over water. Sonics is far more impressive.
