Video of the Shadow Hawk Defense June Outdoor IDPA match located in wild and wonderful Hedgesville, WV. Visited with some family in the area and then attended the June IDPA match at this club.
Shooting a Ruger GP100 Match Champion .38/.357 revolver using .38 special in the REV/SS division/classification.
Got a rare treat at this match - an old school 72 round classifier built into the match! I have only shot this twice before since I started IDPA in 2017. It is a nice test of skill and was fun to see life before the 5x5 we know and love today. Besides the 3 classifier stages - there were 3 other very well-done stages with great lateral movement and a nice mix of steel and paper. Tons of fun!
Sadly, it was not meant to be with the classifier, looks like I will remain REV/SS for now. I had 2 misses that are almost impossible to overcome on any classifier - a head shot on Classifier 1 and one of the 20-yard shots on Classifier 3.
Par for the course with revolvers - mental errors will get you. Sharo eyed watchers will see a bad round count by me on a couple stages. I made up a couple shots that I would not have had to as well. Stage 3 I go strong hand on the third paper target - that is because I pulled a round out when I pulled the speedloader away and it went between my support hand and gun, so I instinctively pocketed it. Should have just let it drop. Same spot, I end up clicking on an empty chamber for the round that pulled out.
Shadow Hawk Defense is an amazing club with absolutely fantastic facilities. The bays are wide and long - perfect for any IDPA, USPSA, Steel Challenge, PCSL, etc. you could imagine, and this club runs all of them! The IDPA match coincided with the club open house so there were all sorts of neat events going on as well - and some EXCELLENT BBQ. Check this club out on Practiscore and see what they are offering - just about anything you could imagine seems to be on the schedule for the club.
