One of my favorite minor details is how the Eclipse Cannon, of course, has Gerald's eyes and mustache. But when Shadow powers the core with Chaos Energy, the windows on the cannon light up, which also gives it a big blood red smile, because Shadow's giving into Gerald's manipulations. He's literally putting a smile on Gerald's face by charging up this doomsday weapon.

Just to let ya know. Gerald’s death in the games is actually far more darker and serious than the movie version. In the game universe, after getting arrested, he later got executed by getting shot by the GUN soldiers. Pretty brutal and dark 😳 Also man, shadow’s backstory is truly tragic that I just can’t help but not blame him one bit why he wanted revenge. Yes wanting to destroy the earth was taking it way too far, but man… I just can’t hate him for being this enraged. He deserves happiness and a hug 😭 Also the robot that appeared in the post credit is Metal Sonic. A actual villain from the games. He first appeared in the 90’s game Sonic CD, which btw Amy also had her first appearance in that game too. Metal Sonic even is the main villain for the Sonic CD 90’s anime movie which I totally recommend to watch. It’s pretty fun. He is even the main villain in the 2003 Sonic Heroes game where there’s even many other characters of the franchise. Rouge the bat, big the cat, cream the rabbit, victor the alligator, Espio the chameleon, charmy the bee, and Omega 😊

Fun fact: the colors of the clothes Maddie (Tom's wife) uses in every movie foreshadow the character that appears in the movie's post-credits scene, thus in the following movie. I agree, it's a shame they kind of gloss over the fact that before Maria died, Gerald was actually kind and truly trying to better mankind with Shadow, it was her death that drove him insane. The only real nod to it is the line where he says he's lost his marbles long ago

Ok, to help settle the confusion, even if someone already commented on this. Gerald survived most likely from the chaos energy from Shadow's quill he had. To address the family tree a bit here from the games perspective, Professor Gerald Robotnic is grandfather to Maria and Eggman. He had two sons, one who is Maria's father, the other is Eggman's father. Maria and Eggman are cousins. However, we don't know Eggman's parents in the movies considering that he's an orphan. Edit: The robot Sonic at the post-credit scene is Metal Sonic, a robot created by Eggman, who is capable of matching Sonic's speed and ability. In his first game appearance, which also was Amy's first appearance, involved time travel. The theory is that Metal Sonic is from the future. So, crazy news, Jim Karry said he was open to returning for Sonic 4. Said movie has a confirmed logo, and is set to release March 19 of 2027.

With your introduction about the Sonic movies getting a trilogy and becoming a movie franchise. Honstly, a lot of people considered the first movie to be like a runt. Like Brightbill from Wild Robot, these movies were never supposed to come this far. The first movie was doomed to fail, but they pulled an uno reverse card and changed its fate. And I'm so glad they did. And I'm so excited for the future and what's to come! As for my thoughts on the movie? It was so freaking peak! I've done a couple of my own Sonic adaptations and I dove deeper into the Sonic mythos than I did when Sonic 2 came to theaters. So I knew a lot about Shadow's backstory with Maria. And my favorite part of the movie has to be when Sonic and Shadow dapped up on the Moon, went super, with Crush 40's Live and Learn playing! YES!!! All of us Sonic fans wanted that song from Sonic Adventure 2 to be in this movie and got what we wanted! Also Keanu was also one of the best parts of this movie! He nailed Shadow really well! As well as Jim Carrey's double duty! And I can't believe I'm saying this, but I was actually crying for Eggman! My thoughts on the post credit scenes? Metal Sonic?!? WHAT?!? And I've been saying all year that if Amy Rose wasn't in this movie, she'd better be in a post credit scene, AND THEN THERE SHE WAS!!! And if Sonic 4 will take inspiration from Sonic CD, then I have a good feeling for that movie's post credit scene. As for the second one, I knew Shadow wouldn't die off immediately! So there's a good chance Eggman survived as well.

This movie is without any doubt the best video game movie ever made. It's a huge love letter to Sonic fans like myself and the people who made it actually put a lot of time, effort and love into making it. This movie had more heart than anything Disney had made in recent years. I literally have nothing but praise for it. I don't have any issues with it at all. Shadow is not only my favourite Sonic character but he's also my favourite video game character. They NAILED him in this movie. Keanu Reeves was perfect for the role and Jim Carry went all out twice as Ivo and Gerald Robotnik. The post-credit scenes at the end have me immediately hyped for Sonic 4 with the introduction of Metal Sonic and Amy Rose. Very excited to see who'll be voicing Amy and what the story is gonna be. My guess is they're gonna use elements from Sonic CD and Sonic Heroes for the next one and there may be some time travel in it. And now we know Shadow's alive he may get his own spin-off series or movie. Also, Maria and Ivo are actually cousins, not siblings. And that power Shadow used to take out all the GUN robots is called Chaos Spear, which is one of his signature moves from the games and animated series. His teleport ability is called Chaos Snap.

I'm glad they showed how incredibly wholesome Shadow and Maria's connection has been in the Sonic franchise. This movie changed Shadow's backstory a little since kids would also watch this. His backstory in the Sonic Universe is more tragic, especially with Maria's disability and how she actually died. The power Shadow used against those robots was Chaos Spear, where he can made energy projectiles. His teleportation power is Chaos Control. At some point I want to see him use his most devastating power, Chaos Blast. Where he lets his energy out violently in an explosion! Based on the endings we can expect Sonic 4 to adapt game Sonic CD/Heroes and for there to be a Shadow The Hedgehog spin off Movie or TV show adapting the 2005 game.
