shadow characters sucked on release because they traded burst and awakeninv for unlimited meter for a few seconds, and you'd only ever see them for touch of death combos like this or shadow chie setups then 2.0 dropped and they were given a proper burst as well so they were just better. not to mention shadow frenzy is unburstable. so basically they turned the glass cannon characters into fortified cannons like before 2.0 you might as well just play elizabeth if you want a touch of death on the entire cast but also want to keep burst + awakening

@@jammychoo She isn't, only Shadow Chie and Yu can be considered broken since not only did they have ToDs, but they also kept the best aspects of the originals(Chie keeping her insane damage, Yu keeping his..well being a stupidly well rounded character). Every other Shadow was niche(Shadow Yosuke having a reset combo that looked really good but wasnt really worth it, Shadow Naoto being able to instakil..even though Elizabeth could do it on everyone) Now in 2.0 tohugh(which didnt come overseas sadly), they were just about better.

Herobrine Yoko Basically, Naoto has a mechanic that allows you to insta-kill by marking them with one super, then using the other super to do the instakill. Shadow versions has a mode that gives them basically ‘infinite’ super moves. Basically, the shadow version allows them to instakill in one combo.

Sorry for being super late on this, but not everyone's a Shadow on that cover, actually! Adachi, Marie, and technically Margaret/Elizabeth aren't affected. Sho becomes Minazuki, which isn't a Shadow either. Margaret and Elizabeth look much more smug, but I don't think they're Shadows since they're attendants. Marie is normal but obviously worried about the Shadows around her, meanwhile Adachi is just like 'this shit sucks' (also sorry to come off as the ACKSHUEALLY person here)

Reversal burst, s.frenzy without getting 100meter but using the burst, insane meter gain and unburstable combos over an S.Frenzy, easy TODs, and a gameplan totally different than regular characters, that's why 2.0 made the Shadows worse. There are regular characters that are still strong (technically equal) without using Shadows like Yu, Yukari, Aigis, Rise, etc.

Riiiip S. Naoto can't cancel the super into itself anymore so a lot of this no longer works. You can still use the SB walk-em-down super in the corner to get 10 counters off though meaning she still has some crazy IK setups but it's definitely not like it used to be. Should be a better character in other areas though!
