About me:
My name is Anthony Chisnall. I'm a musician & songwriter.
My channel is these things:
1. A place to share my music - both songs and instrumental pieces. Much of the music I write features in...
2. Tutorial videos about music composition and production
3. An outlet for me to discuss all things musical - including technical break-downs of software and tools that I use, as well as more wide-ranging discussions of topics that interest me.
I play the guitar (electric, acoustic, and bass), and record all of my own synth-based sounds myself too, but I can't sing very well (huge understatement!), and so my wife, Pauline, who has a lovely singing voice, has come to my rescue. You'll hear her on all of my songs.
All of my music is written in Steinberg's Cubase (currently Cubase 12).
I try very hard to make my videos PRACTICAL and no-nonsense - if I don't use a feature, I'm not going to waste your time trying to sound like an expert on it! This is the stuff I use day-to-day, so I think that's also what you'd like to hear me talking about.

fantastic tune. Love it. The Moog melody is catching. Reminds me a bit on the classic Tracker XM style tunes of the 90`s. There where a Spanish artist named "Awesome" at that time. Your tune reminds me of that.

Super duper! I love that Trance Blooper sound! I have a suspicion that every VST synth that's ever been made since time began has to have a Blade Runner preset of some sort. I think in some states in America it's actually the law and if you are found not having a Blade Runner preset you can get a lengthy custodial sentence in the appropriate state penitentiary which is quite right.

Couldn't agree more. I've listened to the BladeRunner soundtrack 3 times this week (no kidding), and it's currently threatening to topple DSOTM from its multi-decade position as my favourite album

Anthony, was there not a single Halion 7, or did I miss it? I sort of think of it as the first sound design choice. Do you think it's too complex, and doesn't yield the best return on the time spent programming it, if you don't mind sharing your opinion on it? To me, it seems to be able to do just anything and then some, but when working from scratch, it takes me a long time indeed to program it from a clean slate. But then I'm much less experienced with it than you are. It would be awesome to hear your opinion on it as a sound design platform. I worked through your full course on _how_ to use it, but there were no lessons on _when_ and _whether…_ :)

Purely decisions of the moment. Many of my instrumental pieces have multiple Halion instances, and I do think it's amazing, but for this one I chose different directions. (It actually started out as an exercise to write a piece using ONLY the Korg Triton, but I eventually wandered off in other directions, as I often do! You can see me talking about that aspect here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l164amp3oM90sJo) It's an interesting thought to make one or more videos on how to choose a particular plugin at a particular moment: I'll add it to my notebook.
