Shadow of the Colossus - After #12 cutscene - behind the scenes

I revisted this cutscene as I wanted to see what happened 'before' the horses and riders appear.
First I froze the cutscene, then moved Wander there. I can play the animations of each horse and rider in this cutscene one by one... but I had never seen any of this before! So this is new 'unseen' content (after 19 years!)

@@ScrubDusters 19 years actually, & yes the land may seem desolate at first (especially in the original game), but if you take the time to explore everywhere & look around carefully, you'll discover quite a few interesting things in the Forbidden Lands.

Always thought it was funny they seemed so close to the entrance and should have made it into the lands long before Wander finished killing the Colossi.

Perhaps time flows differently inside the Forbidden Lands? Either that, or they had one hell of a labyrinth-esque forest right in front of them! 😆

If there was a straight line directly to the entrance I'd agree. But there is mountains & cliffs & probably other obstacles we don't see that Lord Emon & his men have to deal with just to get to that entrance. Not only that but time appears to be different in the Forbidden Lands. What might take a relatively short amount of time in this land could in reality be many hours or even days that has gone by outside of the Forbidden Lands.

I just finished this game for the first time. Only had faint memories of watching my older brother play it 19 years ago. I played it on a ps2 emulator and it amazes me how the community for it is still alive. Not many games keep living this long, especially those that are not part of some huge series like far cry, resident evil, etc. I feel like this game wouldve made a bigger impact on me, if i wouldve played it as a child, but even now i only start to understand what i just experienced, days after finishing the game.

It would be nice if we could explore areas beyond the Forbidden Lands. It's obvious just from the opening cut scene of the game that Wander travelled far to get to this special place. I know I've said it before, but the original look of the game is so other-worldly in it's design. It really makes you appreciate playing the original all the more, despite how gorgeous the PS4 remake looks. Hopefully this year we get a peak at the new game from Fumito Ueda.

It's been long years and I still like to think that MAYBE Celosia was afraid of the fire being in danger, so they have to be careful and even tries to separate Wander from the torch, and as soon as the fire stops(dies), it goes full rage at you, for hurting what they swore to protect.

1 - is this area erased from memory when the player is controlling Wander? 2 - is it possible to get there (hacking, of course) when is not on the cutscene ? 3 - is it possible to activate the map when in this cutscene hack? Congrats for your awesome discoveries, you're one in a million!

Answers: 1 - This area only loads in the game after you have defeated the #12th colossus 2 - No, only when the cutscene is playing 3 - No, it will quit the cutscene and take you to to the next cutscene where Wander wakes up And thanks!

I agree & with any luck we might possibly at the very least get a Definitive Edition of the game next year with bonus content to celebrate the 20th anniversary. In the meantime there is "Praey For The Gods" which is a nice spiritual successor to "Shadow Of The Colossus" that definitely needs more love & a physical release. If you've never played it or even heard of it, you might want to check it out.

Yes, especially in the PS4 remake. I've been playing & exploring the game for 19 years & just when I think I've seen all there is to see, tried all there is to try, I stumble upon something I've never seen before or done before. Maybe these new discoveries aren't anything mind blowing, but any new discovery puts a smile on the face of a Secret Seeker & perhaps even some casual fans too.

What I do is let the cutscene run in the game as normal then I find a code (address) that freezes the cutscene. Wander is still in the game, so I take control of him and move him there. Note: the cutscene takes place at B0 on the world map.
