SHADOW OF THE COLOSSUS (PS4) Breaking Malus OOB Gate Skip

I'mma find this ho.
After "defeating" Malus, you're locked to being unequipped. To do the wall clip to get out, you need a weapon equipped, so you're stuck in there until a new way is found.You also can't use the map or options menu. MORE:
If you save inside the gate, you'll be unable to leave when you reload, as you can't open it from this side (at least with Valus being the current target). If you jump to your death after the fight, nothing happens when you die. The cam just stays focused on the water and you're forced to close the game. Once you reload, you'll be back at the save shrine inside the gate and you can repeat from there.
lillith and I spent countless hours failing to break into this damn gate and this is what it ended up taking to defeat it.
UPDATE: I did this again but I jumped off the back of the arena before killing him and hit retry. It teleported me back to the Valus cutscene with the sky reset and Agro still gone. Video:kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIOVlnWpo9ida7s
UPDATE2: I most likely triggered the Valus fight w/o killing him, then did what you see in here, in "Breaking Malus." I did trigger it and leave but I didn't know what save it was on. This was likely the one. Further, I tested an actual NG+ from Continue and a forced NG+ from the "New Game+" option and something entirely different happens: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5bFdKGfe7-taa8

Amazing! That one Always was only kept in theory if in fact could work. People have tried that in the OG but don't know if anyone actually managed that. So it's very cool to see that way working.The thing I found most impressive is how it actually triggered malus anyway. the preview version, Once you done that. even before fighting valus, his arena is just empty. So it's impressive how you activate malus regardless... I think I showed that to lilith actually. Nways. Probably your coolest Discovery so far. That can really define the any% category or create another category specifically for that.

Nope, in fact you can land on top of the doors & walk all along the top from one side to the other without falling off. Even the ledges along the mountain on the left side of the doors have collision & you can safely walk on them with no fear of falling through the map or meeting an invisible wall to stop your exploration.

Awesome man. Been watching every one of your videos. I have a suggestion for you, curious to see what would happen. I would love to see what would happen if you get into the arena. Start the fight with Malus, but then escape out like you did in your previous video and don’t kill him. Now it’ll be a long walk, but I wonder what would happen if you go back and kill colossus #1 without Agro. (Valus I think it is) I’m curious to see how the game functions if you kill #1 after initiating the fight with Malus and Agro is dead. Just a thought. Love your videos man. I watch em as soon as you post them up.

This is on my list of things to do but I need to find a way out of the closed gate area first. The other two things I want to do are to get into the fight without destroying the bridge and find a new way out with no weapon. If I can do all that, then I might be able to then do a full playthough if the weapons re-enable themselves at Valus. Would be cool to see if Malus just reloads, if the ending plays after beating #15, or if the ending is just broken at that point.

Perhaps Agro won't re-appear if the cut scene of Agro falling off the bridge plays out, but more than likely Agro will manifest again if you try walking all the way back to colossus #1. Unlike the PS2/PS3 version where once Agro is dead Agro stays dead until you beat the next colossus or restart the game, in the PS4 remake Agro always seems to come back if you get too far away from the body. I don't recall Nomad Colossus ever trying this but maybe he did years ago, I need to check, you've got me curious. :)

Could it be that if it managed to fly until after the part where the bridge collapses and falls with Agro, would the last colossus appear?

You can't get high enough to do that. The bird despawns not too much higher than this and even if it didn't, you'd run out of stamina. There're no birds closer. Also, I've landed both to the right and the left of the door, high up on the mountains, and there doesn't seem to be a way to get close enough.

@@sotcsquall8038 Hello, Squall! I have a doubt: is it possible to jump to the bridge without Agro, using the parachute? What would happen? Would the bridge collapse anyway? If it collapses, is it possible to escape falling to death by running/rolling/parachuting to the other side? I keep wondering if getting to the other side of the bridge without Agro falling would cause the cutscene to be skipped or if it would be triggered anyway. I'd be very grateful to hearing from you.

Very very late but agro respawns next to you everywhere in the world if it gets to far away. It's very obvious if you get agro stuck and run away, or have agro fall through the ground

Yes Agro automatically respawns behind the gates. In the original game if you killed Agro or Agro dies accidently by glitching through the map, he stayed dead until you either beat the next colossus & respawned back into the main temple or until you reset the game. However in the PS4 remake Agro automatically respawns no matter what.

Not sure that this really counts but I think this turned out better than if it would have played out as normal. Now there's more to try/explore.

How did you get up so high? Was it Max Stamina?

In the description of the Colossal Tree video, I explained how. I turned off the stamina bar because it's ugly but it's close to being empty. Also, the bird despawns anyway when it gets a bit higher than this.

It's an unlockable called the "Cloth Of Desperation". In the PS2/PS3 versions you need to kill 14 colossi in Hard Time Attack to get it. For the PS4 version you only need to kill 12. Originally when deploying it you would just drop straight down without the capability to travel any distance worth mentioning. For the PS4 remake however you can now use it as a glider & reach all kinds of places you never could before.
