Shadow of the Colossus - Small stamina is small - Preview version (by Pikol)

Realised I hadn't archived this one via reading through my Preview version blog post. The link in my blog was broken, so with this upload it is fixed!

You can see in this video when Wander eats a fruit his grip meter goes down 'beyond' the retail version limit of 100. In this earlier Preview version there was no limit, so the grip meter reverts to zero, then when another fruit is eaten it starts going up again!

The real challenge was getting there with the same stamina on the demo disc, but it had a better outcome. Once you got there a headless woman is doing a T pose. I even defeated the final boss with this much stamina. (On the regular game, not demo)

Just to make the game a little more challenging, I would sometimes reduce my health & stamina all the way down before heading to a colossus. It definitely made some of the colossi more of a challenge than just regular hard mode. As for the demo, I discovered fairly quickly that you could collect unlimited lizard tails (at the E-4 bridge) to increase your health & stamina. It made getting to that headless statue much easier than doing the left/right zig zag climb.

@@BeverlyHighland Yeah, it appears a lot of players that had the Jampack demo disc didn't explore enough to discover that the bridge over by the great waterfall was not broken, allowing you access to get to the forest area & even the shallow lake just beyond the forest. You could even climb all the way to the top of two of the prayer shrines. The one near the E-4 bridge & the one in the forest. In edition to the unlimited regular lizard tails, there is also a total of 7 shiny lizard tails.

I already tried that & there wasn't enough damage to fully take you out after you become Dormin. I had my health & stamina down as low as it would go before taking out colossus 16. I'm sure a bit was added back after the battle, but it still looked very small. In either case it just wasn't small enough. Not enough arrows hit me to lower my health down to zero.

I was wondering today if the secret garden's fruits could lower all of your life and maybe unlocked something... can they actually kill you or it has a limit of how much life they can take of you?

The 48 poison fruit in the Secret Garden can only lower your health & stamina so much. It won't be enough to kill you. You can only lower your health & stamina down to what it would be if you started a brand new game from scratch. So far no secret (if any) has been discovered by doing this.

When I tried doing that, not enough arrows hit me to fully erase my health bar. I'd say it's more than likely not possible.

So if you lower your stamina down as low as it can go & then continue eating poison fruit, your stamina will start to grow again? I'm very sure this doesn't happen in the retail version. I've actually never tried to do it when in the Secret Garden on the demo. If I remember correctly there wasn't any fruit on the trees in the demo. Then again I wasn't focused on that so I might have just not noticed. I was focused instead on trying to find a way to jump up onto those stone blocks so I could access that upper stairway.

Yes, the E3 demo doesn't even have a secret garden!

@@NomadColossus I was referring to the E3 2005 DEMO that's in the Jampack collection. That demo does have the Secret Garden (as I'm sure you know). It's a little hard to see but if you look closely while on the title screen in the upper right corner it says "E3 2005 DEMO May/12/2005". That was also the demo I was referring to in earlier comments where I said you can get unlimited lizard tails located at the E-4 bridge to fully max out your health & stamina.
