First time I saw how far away Commander Gaius starts now! Before that one update a while back you barely had time to do anything before he crushed you into the wall. Nice change there! The best thing about him is the two very rewarding areas you reach from here though.

I spent daaaays on Commander Gaius lol, he took me forever because my character has like, no vigour, no armour, and is made for mid range battle and then you come in and just absolutely trounce him lol. Very well done!

Time for my weekly updating of my list of things to do in the dlc. 9:17 great idea going after the demi-human queen’s guard’s before taking her on. I went the cowardice route and shot her with my crossbow from the aft of the coffin. Took me forever, but the katana i got was worth it to fill out my katana collection.

I am amazed by your style in this game. Gaius took me something between 10-12 tries before I got him on new game. (Only 6 on new game plus). And I was using mimic tear +10 as well as a fully leveled up holy weapon and massive shield

And you remember that statue of Marika before Gaius where you found the scadutree fragment? I want you to go perform that gesture in front of that statue. Thats how you reach the second finger ruins. Gaius caused me so much trouble, I think it took me about 30 attempts in total. I had to go away and level up and find more Skaddu Fragments... which was slightly annoying because at the back of his boss arena there's a load up on the hill.

Usually i come here to catch up on the video AFTER beating the boss but Commander Gaius is an exception. He one shotted me so many times. In 20 attempts the most health i scraped off him was about 1/16 of it with my strongest weapon. He wouldn't even let me hit him for the most part. So i came here to learn from luke. Though we have very different builds Edit: life is unfair 😭

I started playing this dlc after ya started this series and omg the amount of smithing stones is indeed unreal lmao. I ended up with like 30-40 something of each regular stone by the end haha

I think Commander Gaius is the funniest boss in the DLC purely because he can make the giant pig fly, specifically to kill you. Also unsure if you saw my suggestion on the last video, but I am very excited for you to see what’s behind the castle :)

Do you not recognise the wisp/orb form Siofra River Well? They're right at the bottom with all the blue ghostly ancestral followers. The Bloodborne monster is more obscure, it's called a cemetery shade and is in some catacombs in the base game.

I'm so glad (for my own sake) that they patched Commander Gaius. Originally, if you died to him the first time, he'd be waiting for you directly in front of the boss door. And in the time it took for the Spirit Ash summoning animation to run its course, he would already be ON YOU. Now, after the patch, he starts the fight much further away from the boss door. And I'm so glad they changed that because I struggled with this boss more than any other boss in the entirety of the base game. Just because the first few seconds after entering the boss room there was zero time to get on your horse or summon backup.

"Extravagantly wasteful" is exactly how I felt about that place. It looked so foreboding on the map, it was massive and could have been something pretty cool, even if it was just a series of interesting fights. Instead it's a huge chunk of wasted potential. Don't get me wrong, that puts it in the minority for the DLC, but it still bugged me.
