It is amazing how many of these really good black and white films are available for free on KZbin. A lot of people especially young ones won't watch anything but colour and if wasn't made in the last five years they are not interested. A lot of these movies are "B" meaning they were quickies made to fill 'double features'. Does anyone remember when you could go to the theatre and see two films. In fact you could sit all day and watch them over and over without anyone throwing you out.

They did this cat our local theaters, but II especially remember my dad and I going to a movie theater in Times Square, NYC, one of many in Times Square area. We’d see a newsreel, cartoon, a “B” movie, and a feature film, such as “Bridge on the River Kwai”. Then we’d go to a restaurant. I loved their Napoleon pastries. We’d see movie celebrities, such as Jack Warden, sitting at the next table. Good times. - BG

Jerry Mathers, born in 1948, was 9 years old when they produced this in 1957, the same year they started filming the 'Leave it to Beaver' series. He looked a lot younger than 9 here, he looked about 5-6. I guess that's why they could run 'Leave it to Beaver' so long.

@@SMAY0001 Right you are! Thanks for noticing THAT 'trivia' (I hadn't checked the full cast list until reading your reply, and now that I have, I should hasten to add (for those too young to know) that Jerry Mathers was the star of the immortal TV series 'Leave It To Beaver', and Philip Carey was famous as the Captain in the TV series 'Laredo' (a comedic-dramatic western), and Betty Garrett was a regular in the TV series 'All In The Family', 'Laverne and Shirley', and 'Golden Girls', and of course Jerry, Philip, and Betty had many roles in movies of the 1950's. Incidentally, having grown up back then, when Phil Hartman came into prominence he always reminded me of Philip Carey, and I wouldn't be surprised if he actually had modeled at least one of his characters after Philip Carey, but they also looked and sounded alike (when Phil 'used' his Philip Carey persona). Lastly, as for Corey Allen, not to be morbid, but IF he had been in the car with James Dean on that fateful day of his fatal accident, Corey would be just as famous as James, and the same goes for Richard Davalos, who, like Corey as Buzz (Rebel Without A Cause), gave an OUTSTANDING performance in 'East of Eden', in the role of Cal's (Dean's role) brother Aaron, every bit as compelling, if not more so, than that of James Dean. Davalos and Allen made many more films, but remained obscure as 'fate' would have it, unjustly. Both of those films are perfect works of art in which EVERY actor and actress in both of those films delivered STELLAR performances.

I was always amazed, coming from New York, where film is kind of a revered art form, especially the great noir films of the 40's and 50's and the great musicals of the 30's.... to arrive in the UK years ago, and nobody would watch a black and white film. They thought it was 'old' if it wasn't in color. Missing the point and completely ignorant of the art form.

Thank you for presenting Shadow on the Window with a fine cast, including Philip Carey, Betty Garrett, and Jerry Mathers before Leave it To Beaver made him a star on television. Also, Ainslie Pryor (the doctor) was best remembered for the TV sitcom, The Adventures of Hiram Holliday, with Wally Cox, a few TV guest appearances, and the Paul Newman film, The Left-Handed Gun (1958), his last acting role before his death. Loved the tension-building plot typical of 50's films showing middle-class America under siege from crooks (think, The Desperate Hours, for instance). BTW, I believe I saw this film on TV years ago, so it's been a while.

28.3.21 Utube. From UK.Shadow On The Window. Yes weve seen about 40 of these kind of BW films. This one is amazingly good picture quality. Thats technology for you. Have not watched this yet and recently have been staring at these films less n less. Weve entered a lot of comments about what we are thinking these days re the Film Industry. Actors etc. However just like with Politics. Law. Health. and other issues all comments ignored. We hung out with the Cent London acting, Art and BBC scene for many yrs. We thought it was great. We weveb read 'The Times' Then one day two things happened, we were approached by victims of the Police, Mental Health, govt. Charity, Media, Royal Law. Court and similar systems. The second event was the assoc with someone who was not like anyone else. What happened over the next ten or so yrs was very hard to cope with because the situation demanded that we change our middle class cloak for reality. Many tearful hours was experienceds as our lives became no longer viable. There was a third happening which was the meeting of a man at a public meeting who opened a case and that conrained was full of litigation papers. The following twelve yrs were sensational and we experienced Police attacks whilst traipsing Cent london knocking on doors. We also experienced death threats from HM Court System but when that was reported to Police they wiped it from the computers. Weve gathered 1000pp evidence and our dear BBC 'friends' said this- Hide It Abroad' We approached the EEC about Human Rights and they told us there were none becauase its all about money not people hence the mal funded charities and other orgs. We now are not able to access Democracy of any kind incl Parliament. We have found 26 universities practising. The entire media is concealing evidence. The Police are still using violence. Their latest quote is as follows- 'No One Must Be Warned If They Are In Danger'. '.Among the media we approached was Dimbleby Press. The victims had in many cases searched for non crrpt Lawyer or Journalist for 6-10 yrs with no luck. We were obliged to employ bodyguards to save our own heath and lives. We found no trustable org which has HM Prefix. Now you know why we dont watch these Cop. Crimina. Judge. Press. News Headline. Nite Club. Fire Escape. Shooting. Punching. Knifing. Court Skinny Women With Curley Hair . film propaganda. 1000 Mails sent out. No replies. Meanwhile 2.5 Million people love a violent movie. Got it? Or not? By the way Social media has destroyed everything we wrote. Ten web sites destroyed. No spell chkd.

Great movie but does anyone else I'm sure I am not the only one the Seas the hole in it where you wouldn't just drop a kid off like that pass them along to some other people the cops would want to know exactly where you picked him up and that would be important. I'm sure other people thought of this I just had to say it

What strikes me, already at minute 4, is that two truckers are worried about a child walking the highway. That they stop! (point one) That they care enough to take him into the truck (and there isn't any fear of child molestation/kidnapping charges). (point two) They take him to the truck depot and the dispatcher doesn't rag them for picking up a hitchhiker or rather, rag them on the "insurance risk" (since we are not yet in the days of constant litigation). (point three). Then, none of the police are shown as thugs, murders, or Ku Klux Klan, but as middle class, nice guys, working men, who take their job of protecting the community seriously. (point 5) Finally, the movie ends with a happy ending. That things can be (mostly) put aright. Unlike today's university professors and politicians who assure that nothing will be normal again -- because that would not fit their ideas of "justice". That was back in 1957, the Dark Ages we are told. Today, this is truly a different time. How did our society ever decline into the polarized, fearful mess we see today??? Now that everyone is so "woke" and knows to blame everyone else and never holds themselves accountable for anything.
