I haven’t played shadow tower but I’ve played a bit of Eternal Ring, which was another kings field style game on PS2. I didn’t know that at the time and bought it because the back of the box said “not all fantasies have to be final” which was too good to pass up. It was fun after I adjusted to the jank and it became all about footsies and timing

The PSP doesn't have hardware emulation, but it does have very good software emulation made by Sony. If you're playing this on Vita using the psp emulator it's like running an emulator in an emulator. You might be better off just playing it on a computer with an emulator. There's a lot of very good ps1 emulators now.

I've played a few PS1 games on my Vita before and I'd not experienced any issues with em, but idk if it's different doing through the homebrew psp thing.

I'm actually a big fan of King's Field, but haven't played the first Shadow Tower myself (I did play Abyss, it's really cool). If you're interested in this style of game I would strongly recommend King's Field 4 out of all of them. For some reason it's the slowest King's Field gameplay wise but by far the most atmospheric and well designed. PS1 KF games are a lot jankier than the ones on PS2.
