Atlus didn´t want to risk with this remaster and lost money, even if they fix its problems, this is like an experiment to see if people would buy their old games so they low the cost of its production as much as they could, and if the games does bad they would not lost money, if this remaster do well, they will do it better with their other games like DDS or Devil Summoner or thats what I would like to think.

Wishful thinking. At least nocturne had somewhat of a reputation among the fanbase, the raidou games and dds flopped hard in terms of sales and were nowhere as renowned. If they aren’t willing to risk it with what they thought was “cult classic” then I doubt they’ll pay mind on those. Maybe they’ll bundle it up and call it “the megami tensei collection” or something. I wouldn’t count on individual release.
@GodOfOrphans
@GodOfOrphans 3 жыл бұрын
@@westfllynvaleghar9556 I can only speak for myself but all I really want are reasonably priced optimized ports preferably with achievements added, and control remapping, I care not for any of the other bells and whistles, they're a nice bonus but ultimately don't sway my purchase decision one way or another. I certainly wouldn't say no to a bundle of the older more niche games even if they are basically just ports as that's really all I ever want, it's certainly better than the alternative of them essentially becoming emulator exclusives at the very least.

I ve been a persona maniac since 5 came out. Then I played Royal, then Strikers which was completely different playstyle and I ve played shin megami tensei on my mobile. I was excited and ready for that Nocturne remaster. I saw everywhere that Persona was like a walk in the park in comparison to that game s difficulty. And boy was that correct. I played it a little bit those couple of days on ps4. I feel that the demons on that game have way more personality than the human characters. I haven t progressed a lot yet and I haven t watched any spoilers. On persona characters were well developed with backstories and gradual progress and you could connect with them. In Nocturne, the only interest you have in them is about what is going to happen next. The whole story and the environment is eerie and creepy. There is a sense of dread and horror. And the game quickly makes you understand that in order to survive, you need to be strong and prepared. Getting demons, fusing them, passing down helpful skills, create solid teams, strong attacks, attributes, buffs and debuffs. You need to experinment and master these things to push through. I play only on NORMAL and I find some stuff a bit tough on that game. I am a grinding freak anyways so it doesn t bother me stocking items and powering up my demons before I make the next step. I always did the same in Pokemon too. It is exciting and challenging and I am really happy to get the chance to play that game. I am looking forward for 5 to come out soon and more shin megami tensei games

I would prefer going Persona 5 Royal if you are a beginner since the story in each Persona game is always different and playing the older games is optional. I can see how unlocking the frame rate could be a lot of work. It used to be fairly common to write games in such a way that the game logic was updated once per frame, assuming a given frame rate. Developers knew what hardware their console games were going to run on, and didn't need to check the clock frequency, measure time for each frame, etc. All that stuff could be safely assumed. If you port such a game onto a faster system, it will run proportionally faster. Since update ticks are tied to frame rate. If it ran at 60fps everything would be twice as fast: animation, menu controls, damage numbers, etc. It would be far simpler to add in some code to lock the frame rate than it would to decouple the game loop from the render frame rate. Hell, depending on how well structured their code is, even finding every piece of code that would need to be changed to decouple logic and frame rate could be difficult. Does it blow? Eh. Kinda. Is it a cop out? Probably not.

I looked into it and the version with Raidou was actually the third and final updated release of this game for the PS2 in Japan (we got the second one in the states), so without the dlc this is technically a remaster of the most recent version of the game. This makes Atlus a bit more forgivable for having Dante as dlc only.

I think you were kind of eccentric with your opinion regarding the dungeons' tracks. As you said, it helps to enhance the ambience and goes extremely well with the unique atmosphere of the game. It truly feels like a horror game at some points, and at this point that has become a staple on the mainline games. I understand if it is not everyone cup of tea, but going as far as muting the game is a bit too much imo, especially when every mainline game has done this at some point. If you were expecting something more upbeat like what is usually present on the Persona games, that would hurt the immersion of the game. Maybe you just don't like the oppressive feeling the game exudes during this segments?

You could be right but really this is the only game I had this kind of view on. I had no issue with SMT4, SMT4: Apocalypse, and Strange Journey dungeon music. This game is definitely the exception not the rule for me.

@@ShadowEliteHD Oh, I actually forgot to mention that I can relate to this feeling haha. I do prefer how the ambient music was implemented in the IV duology and 1 and 2 for the SNES. I can still kinda appreciate Nocturne's own way of doing eerie dungeon music, but it might have gone a little too experimental when compared to other entries. To put it simple, yeah, I can now understand your discomfort with Nocturne regarding this topic.

I did find how hard this game was way back during the PS2 era. ANd yes, it just slaps your behind very hard that you'll want to quit it but, this game is a breath of fresh air in comparison to traditional JRPGs I have played over the years, "Normal" is HARD and "Hard" should be labeled EXTREME. Haha! And yes, it will not hold your hand or introduce you to mechanics, it just drops you of somewhere and says, "survive at your own risk" and I think it does go pretty well with the theme seeing that this is a post-apocalyptic game. And yes, this is one of the my fave games just from the Demons lores alone ^__^.

It probably helps that I beat the game before on hard on ps2. The remastered is easy mode knowing what I know in the past in addition to the two DLC dungeons (for those who bought deluxe). That being said, nobody should judge people for struggling the first time. There are little tricks to make the game easier like buying pisaca with estoma early on in the game and building immunities for the MC.

“Don’t play this game on hard on your first run.” I jumped from Persona 3's normal mode straight into SMT 3's hard mode on my first playthrough. It was one hell of a wall to face, but I'm a stubborn old goat so I eventually got into it. Gotta say, that first playthrough was an absolute disaster. The second one went way better and even ended with me fighting the final boss with a far more balanced and arguably underprepared team instead of steam rolling it with good ol' Beelzypops and Metatrotanus. Having no void mind and nerve for the true final boss is a bit of a dice roll on Hard, but it eventually worked out in the end. I had no Masakados either because I didn't want to do Puzzle Boy again.

Nocturne is a thinking person's RPG. Playing this game without giving it your full attention will result in a game over most of the time. Use the phase of Kagutsuchi to your advantage. Only 2 bosses in the game require you to fight at "Full" and one of them is optional. Get it to "New" or close to it as you reasonably can. There is a skill called "Dark Might" that instantly criticals with every physical hit. This helps me a lot with early game nightmares like Matador and Thor.

I love everything this game has except the dungeon design. All I want to do is challenge the bosses, and refine my team. The Labyrinth of Amala severely soured my experience, but I just finished that today. I don’t think that experience was worth it, and it could’ve been organically woven into the main story somehow. I had no satisfaction at all beating that portion of the game, and it’ll ruin my interest on returning to NG+/Hard to complete the True Demon Ending.

The addition of manual skill inherits was a huge improvement. But it's bullshit how the accuracy mechanics are still never explained, and how the encounter rate is still too damn high, even if you spam Estoma until the Kagutsuchi dies. The frame rate was a major problem when it caused battles to lag just as enemies beamed in. I still think Nocturne is the king of monster RPGs, but there were a ton of missed opportunities in this remaster.

I played it in Merciful difficulty. Unapollogetically. Battles are not really challenging, but well, imo the game doesn't deserve so much of my time and effort... the story is interesting but schematic at best. It's all about the character design. I wish there were some online PvP battles to really enjoy all those gorgeous demon designs. The dungeons are fun, but all of them are labyrinths with little to no variations within a given one. The spaces outside dungeons REALLY need some life. Not in the sense of living people, but different kinds of demons going around, or even some interesting landscapes, landmarks, views, interesting details in the rooms. Otherwise it's just a menu shaped like an endless network of corridors.

Also, the Raidou edition game us is from the *NEWER* version of the PS2 re-release. The Chronicle/Raidou version came out in 2008.... just saying. I dunno why ppl keep saying Raidou came first. The Maniax/Dante version of the game came out in 2004, which is what we got here in the states, but yeah, no... Dante was the first to cameo, *NOT* Raidou. ...I mean, there was even a *FOUR YEAR GAP* between their appearances. Yeah, a minor nitpick, but I wish ppl talking about about SMT3's HD remaster would at least get their facts straight about little things like that...
