Looking back on this scene now... Just think about this. If I'm not much mistaken, this is the one and only time Magnus openly admits to Alec that he's not feeling great; that he's tired and needs to rest, that Alec's words HURT him. And after Alec's response... Does Magnus ever really open up to Alec again when he's not feeling good, without Alec confronting him (like in 2x15 and 3x1)? Sure, Alec apologizes and they make up. (After Alec deals another emotional blow.) But Magnus never lets him know when he's feeling vulnerable again. :,( ('What do you want from me?' Alec, he just wanted you to care about him!) I'm a HUGE Malec-shipper. And Alec has come quite a long way after this scene (well, episode). But the more I think about it, the more I feel like this scene cracked something in Magnus when it comes to opening up to Alec, just a little bit.

Oh God, you are right... and to make it even worst, Magnus told Alec he didn't think Alec would love him anymore without his magic, his "spark" (can you honestly say you like this?) and when Magnus finally admitted he was in pain and depressed and had his break down, the day after Alec breaks up with him because "this spark (magic) he fell in love with wasn't there anymore" Magnus finally lets himself be vulnerable in front of Alec and Alec decides he doesn't like that (in Magnus' sight)

Lonkinella no no no, I will not except this... Alec broke up with magnus so that magnus could get his magic back. And every time magnus did feel vulnerable after this scene, even if he did not tell Alec right away, Alec would tell something was wrong and make magnus feel better. He told magnus that he did not fall in love with him because of his magic but because he was kind, caring, wise etc.

i LOVED this scene. I kinda wish Magnus could have drilled in just a little more that it wasnt just Magnus Alec was being rude to, it was everyone. And that while they understand, its no excuse to treat those that care like crap for not "helping enough"

Aww, Even though Deep down Magnus was so hurt, he still kept his face a smiley one.. I seriously was mad at alec that he yelled at him and called him "Hey!".. I got sad when I saw Tears in Magnus eyes.. I think after this "Fight", Magnus didn't share enough about his feelings to Alec.. Poor Baby Magnus 🥺😭💞

their initial romance came out of nowhere and was shamefully underdeveloped, but throughout their relationship they've been so well written, nothing but healthy arguments and mutual respect and reconciliation that is almost nonexistent in TV couples.

I know this is old, but I wouldn't say it was underdeveloped and out of nowhere. From their first eye contact, and intros. You can see they are interested in each other. Then it kind of goes from there really

it seeems like that because they didnt give malec enough screentime or scenes in season 1 where it shows that they are interested / have feelings for each other. the only scene where we saw malec actually just talk and being together alone because they want to see each other was in 1x06, after healing luke.

I disagree with this statement 5 years later of course lol I don't think their initial romance came out of nowhere. There was an obvious attraction between the two the moment they first met. I felt like it was adequately fleshed out and their romance is top tier, if not THE most swoonworthy out of the rest on the show.
