Oh, this precious scene! :) (I feel sad for poor Magnus, though, having such rough time. :() And Alec's shiny new flexibility rune? PERFECTION! I see it having two meanings. First one is the obvious - it definitely adds some... bedroom possibilities. ;) The second one is a bit more poetic. Since meeting Magnus Alec's heart and mind have become flexible enough for him to be at peace with not only his sexuality, but also with love and his feelings for Magnus. It was a tough road for him to get there, one definitely worth a rune to honor it. :)

or if the stepfather did this and made it look like a suicide then blamed it on Magnus. I would actually love this if it was revealed like this actually. That is a great twist and imagine the meat we would get with the story also. Magnus thinking for over 800+ years he killed his mother when he didn't and is suffering from PTSD that maybe there are holes in his memory since it is established in season 3 his memories aren't always clear. He was triggered after the body swapping event so it wouldn't be outlandish to say he has PTSD or mental illness either.
