Jace annoys THE HELL out of me ever since (always hated the parabatai thing), but when Magnus was sick he didn't show any interest in it (I know a lot is going on right now, but Magnus lost his magic - a BIG thing - because he was saving Jace - who somehow always need saving -.- I thought he'd mention how guilty he feels bc of that a lot, but I think he didn't mention it at all). Sorry, all that is not the point right now, but I had to get it off my chest ^^ sucks when none of your friends watches the show.

@Ayla Alya Exactly!!! I hate that too. I mean why does he always think and act like he's the best of the best and oh sooo great. He really isn't. He's constantly causing problems and acts like a mess, so everyone has to tend to his needs but vice versa not so much. I'd feel horrible knowing that someone who was meant to live forever is now mortal because of me. And devastated to see how much that person is struggeling with loosing a part of him because of me. Also, there's a fraction of second after Alec says "hey" and puts his hand on his face, that we can see in Magnus eyes a fear of losing Alec after that revelation. He seems very afraid of the outcome of the revelation. Harry portrays all the emotions so well from the most evident to the most subtle. Incredible!

Truly heartbreaking scene and perfectly acted. Harry is a fenomenal actor. And one of my favourite Malec moments... the reversal of the roles (Magnus now being fragile and vulnerable and Alec the protector and reassuring one), the honest conversation, the support Alec gives to Magnus, the way Alec listens to Magnus and reassures him that there's nothing ugly about him, how Alec is there for Magnus even after such shocking revelation, the hug... If this is not love I don't know what is.

Let me tell you how amazing Harry Shum Jr is here. To be honest this scene was written so unrealistically I didn't know how Harry was able to pull it off. Magnus had to let his guard down and open up about the childhood trauma that he took centuries to over come. He had to go from denial, to breaking down, to accepting Alec's support and coming to terms with his worst memory and this show gave him less than 3 minutes to do that? Like literally hundreds of years of PTSD needed to be addressed and somehow resolved in a matter of minutes. (Keep in mind this show gave Simon almost half an episode to get over a Clace kiss ok!). Harry's ability to build up the emotions in such a short amount of time was phenomenal. Shadowhunters is lucky to have him as Magnus Bane!

I totally agree with you! The fact is that Harry portrayed all those emotions in such a short period of time and we could actually see and feel all those emotions clearly from the subtle ones to the most intense ones. I was shook with his amazing acting skills and I doubt almost any actor on the show could have done it like he did. And as to Simon I agree with you... they treated Simon's heartbreak as something more dramatic, tragic and hard to overcome than Magnus having witnessed his mother dead after killing herself because of the whole warlock situation, his step father telling him horrible things and him killing his step father like that. Hundreds of years of pain, trauma and guilt were wrapped up in three minutes, while Simon (the actor did great, don't get me wrong) had such a long episode time to deal with his heartbreak/unrequited love moment.

And Harry even comes back to the institute place where he was merciless tortured (and once again we can see how traumatised he is there) to open that portal and has to stand there. However Simon could retreat from the whole heartbreak situation by asking for time and space (which I agree he did well). I hope the writers realize that even though Simon, Clary and Jace are the main characters, some situations require a long time to be dealt with. I can almost bet with you that on the next episodes the writers will have already forgotten all this big trauma and it'll be like nothing has happened, but we'll still be watching more Simon heartbreak suffering + him hooking up with Maia.

What breaks my heart more than Magnus'/Harry's face is Alec's/Matts face. He's so serious, so concerned, so apologetic. There is pity in his eyes. I feel so bad for Magnus at this point. I believe he believes that he might lose Alec, you can see that for a moment while Alec's hand is on his face. I also broke in to more pieces when they hugged. what I love here is a shadowhunter, literally hearing a downworlder literally confess to burning a mundane up with full knowledge of what he did- and receiving only acceptance and understanding and Alec didn’t even flinch or have to think twice about it. not a single word about the accords or anything. Alec in the novel is shown as the most accepting and understanding of downworlders and even comforting a rogue werewolf on malec’s first date but still…. Yknow. this captures that. and mind you this is not just any shadow hunter but the lead of an institute, son of circle members, from one of the oldest families, whose first downworlder contacts were Magnus and their group of friends. and also someone who… well. maybe magnus’s faith in Alec’s kindness and acceptance might have been shaky when he made that confession because of the Valentine thing but he still tried to trust alec enough to confess it all….

I also prefer this version with the simple heart-warming hug at the end. I think the focus of this scene is that Magnus trusts Alec enough to talk about the things that are messing with his mind. Magnus needed some comfort and this hug shows how much Alec loves him and how much he wants to make Magnus feel safe and loved. Alec cares enough for him to understand that Magnus needs time to heal... 🙈
