but if you re-watch Lion King you'll notice that the instrumental of this song is actually part of the Lion King score in the background especially in the beginning scenes like when Mufasa is telling Simba about the Shadowlands (makes sense for it to be in that scene, huh? the tune is basically the Shadowlands' theme). Realizing that connection with the musical makes watching it again even more magical

You should try out for a local play if you haven't yet! Start sooner than later! I've been singing and acting since I was 2, but my first on stage performance was in 6th grade with annie jr, I was molly! Try your best. Your cast will become another family. If anything you don't get in and you keep practicing. Don't let anything keep you down!

This couldn't be in the movie because Nala coming into the jungle to find food and by coincidence meeting Simba again are supposed to be a big reveal. We're supposed to be surprised to find her after all those years and if the movie had this song we wouldn't be as shocked. Of course that still doesn't change my opinion that most of the songs in the movie pale in comparison to some of the new songs from the musical. This is my favorite lion king song now.
