Glad to see this game get some more attention - this game's take on the Shadowrun setting served as the basis for the modern Shadowrun: Returns, Dragonfall, and Hong Kong trilogy of games, and Hong Kong was my favorite Shadowrun game of all time. Shadowrun SNES isn't the *most* faithful Shadowrun game in terms of mechanics, but in terms of atmosphere and storytelling, it was absolutely the best of its time, and I'm stoked that you're showing this off.

Very happy that you covered this classic. I rented it from the video store when it was fairly new and I've been a huge Shadowrun fanatic ever since. I hope you cover the Genesis version someday. Speaking of the newest versions on Steam, if you have Shadowrun Dragonfall in your library, there's a reboot of the SNES game in the Steam workshop. Players who attempt to play the reboot will have to contend with all the challenges(glitches) that Steam user generated content is NOTORIOUS for. Still cool to play and there are toilets in many of the buildings. Jake even has one in his apartment. Pretty sweet.

God I love this game. Have since I was a kid. Such an engrossing game & world. The soundtrack is fricken awesome and atmospheric too. Absolutely love the theme from the Morgue… 3AM on a Summer Night. Actually took the original SNFS for 3AM on a Summer Night & properly mixed it for listening on headphones. It involved doubling the track and panning the duplicat tracks in opposite directions by 50%, in Vegas, to create overlap in the channels, not present in the original SNSF. Without it, it sounded all kinds of wrong over headphones, as you had half the instruments playing In the left ear but not the right and the other half of the instruments in the right ear but not the left. This works on speakers, because of the natural overlap their outputs have… thus mixing them. This isn’t the case with the isolated sounds from headsets phones. Imagine listing to you favorite song but only being able to hear the lyrics in one ear, and the instruments in another. That’s basically what it’s like to listen to the raw SNFS of this game over headphones.

Very nice, you covered everything, from the zip gun to the golden naga karma farming, and the infamous vampire money glitch (pretty sure that's not by design) My only gripe is that the assault cannon becomes available way too late, after the volcano. You literally only get to use it once in the Aneki building and that's it, I could have really used that firepower against Drake. Imagine having that beast of a weapon in the early game, you'll be steamrolling through the arena fights unopposed. Alas, all that power, too little too late Just to point out, the Jester cuts Drake's HP by half, that's the main reason for using it That $85k on the 5th floor of Aneki is either a real tease by the developer, an oversight, or they just want to subtly remind you to try out the assault cannon and the full body suit in case you still don't have it by this point, giving you enough to get both in one go The combat feels clunky compared to the genesis version, especially when you need to manually control a crosshair just to aim, while the genesis one just point and shoot after locking on to the nearest target When Cyberpunk 2077 released, I thought it was derived from Shadowrun. Granted there are no dragons, fantasy creatures or magic, but there's a lot of cyberware (though I'm guessing the term is not really exclusive to Shadowrun but the cyberpunk genre in general) and like the snes and genesis game it both features a Japanese megacorporation

From a dialogue standpoint, Shadowrun on the SNES was definitely super immersive and ahead of its time. But I'm more partial to the Genesis version. It may not have had as many dialogue options, but I feel like it played more like a open-ended tabletop RPG, as opposed to the more streamlined action of the SNES version. I'm actually curious to see how you'd approach a walkthrough for an open-ended RPG like Genesis Shadowrun. One that has story progressions but requires a lot of grinding and random quest taking to reach those objectives.

I was running pen and paper Shadowrun 1st and 2nd edition for years, so when the NSES version came out, I was all over it...but it was totally incorrect by the rules. It was as if the developers read a Cliff's Notes version of the world and rules and then told it to kids who told all of it to other developers who actually made the game. Still, it was fun and I really enjoyed it! I still wish they'd reprint the 2nd Ed. books....
