Nice sized lings for within spitting distance of the space needle.

Excellent video! I can’t believe you’re able to catch those lings in such shallow water that close to shore. We do get lingcods down here, but they’re not easy to catch and overall they’re pretty scarce.🎣😃

Yeah, the lings tend to hang around the marina break walls around Seattle. These were in 15-20ft, although they can be deeper in rockier areas.

@@ShadRich I forgot to ask you what model of Werner paddle are you using?🎣😃
@ShadRich5 ай бұрын
@@losthorizonfishing107 I am using the Werner Shuna 2 piece straight shaft 215cm model. I also have the Camano but generally let guests use that one. Considering trying a wing paddle one of these days...

Where did you launch from? Do you fish that spot often? Have you ever caught one big enough to keep? Thanks
@ShadRich4 ай бұрын
The launch is at the 32nd Avenue West Beach Access in Magnolia. I tried to fish for lings there last year without success, so the video is actually my first lingcod catch. No keepers, although one of the larger ones in the video might have been right at the 26in limit. The keepers will get fished out early due to urban fishing pressure if they are there.

@@ShadRich Have you tried to fish other areas for lingcod? Do you ever fish for salmon in the puget sound?
@ShadRich4 ай бұрын
@@NghiaPham-xi5so I do fish for salmon at Shilshole and have caught several. I have a couple of Shilshole videos up from last year when the odd year pink salmon were running. I've tried twice for the resident coho this year but have not caught one yet. I'll probably try again this weekend. As for lings, I tried at the South end of Whidbey Island and only caught a shaker. They're out there, but I am learning. The local season for lings is over, so you'll need to travel to an area where they are still legal. Neah Bay is supposed to be the best reasonably close option...albeit several hours from Seattle.

@@ShadRich you can go to Makah Bay. Keeper is anything you like

@@borbonic That area is on my list, but it sure is a haul from Seattle. I am going to try around Possession Point next weekend if the weather cooperates. I doubt it's as fishy as Makah/Neah, but hopefully it'll be better than Seattle.

@@ShadRich I already hit that a little bit ago. It's not so great directly on that point where the dive spot is. The reason I say that is that it's difficult to stay on the wall. But you could get lucky. I think it's probably better around the corner where the wreck is. If you don't get pushed around by the wind and current

@@borbonic I guess I will technically be around Useless Bay / Double Bluff rather than Possession Point if it makes a difference. At least the Double Bluff launch is close to the Airbnb we got for a couple of days. Based on your videos you travel around quite a bit. I've stuck close to home so far (Lake Union/Washington, Greenlake, Shilshole).
