late comment(s)... ----------- in fallout 1 (and fallout 2), charisma does practically NOTHING, because of this, it was given actual usage in the later fallouts, but that's not the case with fallout 1 (and fallout 2)... (for fallout 2, charisma was given a slight usage in that it determines the number of companions that you can have: charisma / 2 = number of companions, but this isn't even the case in fallout 1, as you can always have all of the mere 4 companions in fallout 1, lol, as charisma has nothing to do with it) --------------- for fallout 1 (and fallout 2), having at least a 7 intelligence and a high speech skill, 99% of the game's content (quests/rewards/dialogue-options/etc) is available to you --------------- the basic build template: intelligence: 7+ tagged skills: 1. speech 2. main/end-game combat skill 3. secondary/support/backup/early-game combat skill, OR, some other (non-combat) skill (it's important to have a combat skill that doesn't have an "ammo issue": small guns or melee, as you don't want to run out of ammo, especially not having an end-game weapon to use for your combat skill/s, not being able to do combat, not being able to kill anything, lol) ----------- 'jinxed' is most optimized with unarmed/melee build, as critical failures only happen with firearms (small guns, big guns, and energy weapons), so, a lot of critical failures for firearm-using enemies, while no critical failures for you using melee/unarmed weapons that being said though, 'jinxed' like most of the traits, are quite marginal/insignificant/weak, unfortunately... ------ good/best (useful/significant/powerful) traits: 1. gifted (not required, but it just helps so much, and again, there's just not really any other traits) 2A. small frame (+1 agi is nice, and doesn't hurt, due to infinite storage with companions, and there's really not any other good traits either) OR 2B. fast shot (unless you want to use aimed/targeted attacks for the critical hits: x4 damage or insta-kill with the eye shots) // fast shot does work with unarmed/melee, not just firearms (small guns, big guns, and energy weapons), not sure with throwing weapons though, meh -------- marginal/insignificant/weak traits: 1. jinxed 2. one-hander (if don't plan on using the two-handed firearms, not sure if this does work with one-handed unarmed/melee too, or not, meh) 3. faster metabolism 4. chem reliant 5. chem resistant 6. bloody mess (it does have a slight downside, in that it can prevent you from being able to loot the corpses for equipment/ammo/items/etc etc etc, and also, you will still see violent deaths with/from your critical hits normally anyways/already, so this really isn't needed at all for seeing violent deaths, and thus, all it really does, is the slight change with the ending of the game) ------ bad/negative traits: 1. finesse (despite what tons of old guides and people will tell you, this is an EXTREMELY BAD/HARMFUL trait, as you do 30% less total damage! so what you get a/more critical hit/s, it's total/final damage is still 30% less! This is really one of the arguably absolute worst traits) 2. skilled (limits you to only 5 perks at max clvl 21, vs 7 perks at max clvl 21 if you didn't choose skilled, perks are extremely important, though also not vital either, however, neither is skill points as you get plenty for the few needs you have with skills, especially with having the 3 tagged skills to help/raise them up) 3. bruiser (though, this actually isn't too bad, as even with 1 agility, you still got enough AP for doing combat, but it does just prevent you from optimizing/maxing your combat of course, though the +2 str also isn't very important, especially for those who know the game well, but it can help new players, however, the average AP will be more of a con/negative for them, than the +2 str is a positive/benefit for them) 4. heavy handed (this is only applicable/viable with a very specific niche build, but there's no reason for doing such a build, except for challenge/fun, as there's just out-right better builds, as critical hits rule in terms of damage) 5. kamikaze (maybe there's some specific niche builds where you can make it work/applicable, but except for challenge/fun, there's no reason for doing such specific niche builds, as there's other builds that are just way better, and AC is quite useful, whereas sequence not really so much) 6. night person (while for the most part really marginal/insignificant/weak, the -1 intelligence during day-time, can cause issues/problems, and maybe the -1 perception too, as well) 7. good natured (despite a lot of old guides and people will tell you, this is NOT a good trait, as your combat skills are much more important, especially when really the only important skill boosted, is speech, so you're lowering all of your useful combat skills, just in exchange for slightly boosting up only your speech skill... which should be a tagged skill anyways and easy to raise-up/max-out, ya, you can take this if you're doing a 'diplomacy/pacifist' challenge/fun build, but that's the ONLY reason for doing so, lol)
