Wow they really fell apart in the first variation...! Great recording though

The last variation is insanely fast, almost laughable. Some notes are so short they blend together or he almost skips over them. Tends to sneak ahead in tempo and then the orchestra falls behind him, yet they manage to rejoin! Was this recorded on a cassette tape?
