In problem 4 how T1 is equal to maximum tension

The pully has two sides of belt, one is tight side (maximum tension) and the another is slack side (minimum tension). When it is given as maximum tension it denotes the tight side, so it is taken as T1.

Sir, While calculating BM, how did you determined whether it's clockwise or anti clockwise?

Simply we can use the following method.. 1) Right side Force(Moment about left extreme point): Upward - clockwise, Downward - anti clockwise 2)Left side Force(Moment about right extreme point): Upward - anti clockwise, Downward - clockwise
