Ken. Fabulous video. I could not figure out how to get the impeller off. Thanks for showing the 1/4" allen wrench. Worked like a charm with the garbage disposal wrench. Great detail. Go Aztecs!!!!!

This is perhaps the best instructional on the seal replacement task -calling out the Allen wrench and wd40 , and use of pvc made it a easy task -thanks

I'm always glad when I see these videos that I'm not the only one whose Pentair motor housing is all corroded with the paint bubbling off. What a massive fail on the part of Pentair. I've been meaning to remove my motor, use a wire wheel to grind off all of the corroded paint and pot metal, then re-spray it with epoxy paint to seal it for good.

I agree; Pentair makes junk products (ie their lights last only a few hours) and charges outrageous prices.

Excellent. The Pentair heater workbench is an awesome idea.

Very good video. Just a note though. The PS-1000 shaft seal is for non SWG pools. For SWG pools, its the PS-3865R shaft seal. The PS-1000 won't last very long in a salt pool.

I can verify that after replacing a PS-1000 multiple times before finding that one out. Great comment J G!

Appreciate the thoroughness of your instructions. How did you know that the shaft seal needed replacement?

The one I worked on did not have Allen wrench. It had a place for screw driver. Very hard almost impossible to get off.

Why can't i touch the Whiteside of impeller by rare hand? If my pump won't prime, is it means that the impeller need to be replaced?

Nice video Ken, Is it recommended to change the seals on the wetend for preventive maintenance, If so how many years on a Pentair VS?

I FOLLOWED THIS PROCEDURE, BUT WHEN I TURN IT ON, THERE IS NO SUCTION, IS IT POSSIBLE, I CONNECTED THE WIRES IN REVERSE POLARITY ?

Ken, thanks for the video. However, I am still trying to figure out a solution to take off the impeller. In the video, when you take off the cover, there's an easy solution for you -- an Allen wrench. On mine, however, there's just a giant slot that goes across. I tried to put a screwdriver in and spin it but it will not budge as there's not enough torque on the back end. Does ANYONE have a solution for this? I've been trying to fix this thing for the past week and I'm ready to toss it out and fill in my pool at this point. I have a IntelliFlo VS+SVRS

I'm still having issues with this and Pentair basically told me to go pay someone to fix it lol This should be as simple as holding a screwdriver on the backside and turning the impeller. Instead, it won't budge and only smaller screwdrivers fit. This seems to be unknown to even Pentair employees too, as they thought it would be an allen wrench. If the threads are corroded, what are my options? If I had the money I'd just toss the damn thing now.

Does it matter if the lube you use has silicone in it or not?
@thepoolposse24096 жыл бұрын
wdk8606 I only use silicone lube
@DoubleBizzy5 жыл бұрын
The shaft seal I bought at my pool supply store included instructions that say explicitly to NOT use silicone. I called and talked to the store manager, who also said do NOT use silicone near the shaft seal (ceramics). She said don't use silicone near anything that heats up. The silicone is for the big floppy rubber gaskets.
@Patrick_B687-33 жыл бұрын
@@DoubleBizzy Yep. Pentair says a tiny bead 1/16” of silicone sealer under the flange of the shaft seal, and soapy solution for the impeller seal. kzbin.info/www/bejne/i6i5c4qMhdWUrZo
