Excellent tutorial! Thank you. The task took about 2 hours due to a stuck seal on the shaft, but some WD-40 and elbow grease took care of that. Strangely, the pump sounds quieter now, as well as holding water when turned off. I'll take that as a bonus.

I've always been taught to not touch the white ceramic part of the seal with your barehands. Is that false? Or doesn't the oil from our skin damage if quicker over time

Handling the seals is fine, however chemicals and improper water balance will do more damage to the seals over time.

@jacksmachine18746 ай бұрын
I replaced the housing and the bottom bolts are extremely tight before screwing all the way. Leaving a tiny gap at the bottom where it connects to motor. It will not close. The seal pushes too hard against it.
@HallmarkPoolSupplies6 ай бұрын
Some of the older pumps used 2 long bolts and 2 short bolts when connecting the motor to the housing. Make sure the long bolts are on the bottom and short on the top. If you have this exact pump in the video then you can lube the large o-ring and the diffuser o-ring on your motor, this will allow you to easily put the motor and housing together. Tighten all bolts evenly, so you can draw the motor bracket evenly to the housing. Do not over tighten. Good luck, thanks for watching.

So i do pools, and im working on this pump, few things are off maybe you would know why? The shaft needs a 7/16th wrench to hold it still, the impeller reverse thread nut needs a nut driver thats bigger than 3/8ths.

The reverse threaded screw on the impeller can also be removed with a flat head screwdriver. Thanks for watching.

Excellent video. Do you have any tips on how to remove the old seal bearing if it is seized to the shaft?
@HallmarkPoolSupplies Жыл бұрын
Sometimes this happens and it can be a little difficult removing the old seal. Use a pair of pliers to help wiggle and pull off the seal. You can also use a little WD-40 this should help. Lightly sand and lube the shaft before installing the new seal to insure a good fit. Thanks for watching.

Hi, quick question, have you seen the impeller being the reason for a leak? I had a pool company come out replace the gaskets and I still have a leak and they're saying it is the impeller. Just asking cuz I'm starting to get deep into this project. Thank you
@HallmarkPoolSupplies Жыл бұрын
Usually it's the seals unless the impeller is cracked. If the impeller is damaged and needs to be replaced, you would then need to change the seals as well. Thanks for watching.

@jesseteran96489 ай бұрын
You can hold the impeller with your hand to remove the reverse screw, also you really don't want to touch the face of the white ceramic seal while pushing it in to place, the grease from your fingers is not good to get on it, you're better off pushing it in place with a clean piece of paper

My superflow motor old bearing was a 6203, but a new 6203 won't fit on. The shaft is clean. I swear both bearings read 6203. In fact I got four new bearings and all are too small for the rear shaft although they fit the front nicely. What to do? There was a noticeable difference in the size of the bearing inner races, I think .62" for the new and .635 for the old. Makes no sense to me.

If your pump is making a loud noise, it’s probably the bearings. Depending on the age or condition of the motor it can be repaired. If your motor is over five years old I would replace. If you opt to repair get an estimate so you can compare cost.
