Vinyl's inconvenience is actually a "feature"...love it! Makes perfect sense with regard to deprograming audiophiles to listen to music instead of gear.

@@Audfile Audiophiles tend to divorce themselves from the pure enjoyment of music. Instead, they focus on what the gear can do, or more often, what the gear cannot do. Format is irrelevant since people with exclusively digital systems can fall into the same trap.

Yes, he is causing me to ask the same question, which of my many speakers is right for the room I’m in? I simply can’t part with them like he does. I did when I was younger and moving all the time as he is. Perhaps I need to learn ‘let go,’ as they say.

Terrific interview, Steve! Love the vinyl encouraging concentration, deeper immersion-less flitting about. Almost fell off my chair hearing Shahed quote me on the ‘alphabet soup’ of AN names. (I tried to fight it, naming the Galahad power supply and two power amps, one of which Shahed owned.)

Back into vinyl after a 20 year gap and I totally understand the statement "vinyl's inconvenience is a feature....". I'm just more engaged in the music when I put an LP on. I also cancelled all my streaming services and only buy my music now. Either digital downloads or LP's.

Regarding the turntable - that resonates very well with my own experience - I kept using a turntable through the 1990s and the 2000s when vinyl wasn't cool, just so I would continue to have that experience of leaning back and listening to an entire side of a record, get up and flip it and continue. It's just, to me, a much nicer experience that helps actively listen to music. CDs are a little bit the same way, and streaming just doesn't work for me. We're all individuals with different personalities and traits. The only time I dislike my turntable is when I end up with one of my cats resting in my lap - which is really wonderful until I have to get up and change side/record... :)

Joseph Audio Perspective2 Graphene speakers have excellent driver integration, even in near field listening. It’s possible that the speaker height or tilt wasn’t setup properly, possibly due to those (Townshend?) platforms. It is true that they need a lot of space behind them, though.

Back in the 70’s and 80’s I would buy albums based on the songs heard on the radio. I wasn’t interested in buying the singles on 45’s. I will admit that I would rarely play an album in its entirety. I would pick up the tone arm and move on. I still have almost every album I ever bought and have started buying new pressings of old material that I wished I had bought back in the day. The difference now, like Shahed, I listen to the whole side or whole album now. I do listen to digital as well for the convenience. I still use my original Dual TT, a borrowed LP-12, and Klipsch La Scala’s(bought in 1980).

Loved this interview Steve. And fully agree with streaming vs CD’s and vinyl… it’s why I’m nervous about pulling the trigger on a good steaming amp. For now, I think I’ll stick with my CD’s, and then streaming Tidal through one of a few of my decent blue tooth speakers. Both sides now. Different moods. Best of the Season!

How does one combat plugging in multiple components off of these ( potentially unsavory outlets?) Outlets?

You are not "trigger happy" when the system sounds the way you like it to sound. You are "trigger happy" because you are searching for that one track that will sound "just right". This is case with any source not just prone to streamers. Most people can vouch to buying and selling gear specifically related to the "trigger happy" syndrome. Power cables, signal cables, source and room acoustics have a bigger role to the "trigger happy" syndrome than most people think. I think source is more important than speakers, cabling the system and properly matched components is important for the source to sound right, finally match the amp for the speakers or match the speakers for the amp. Thats my 2 cents not sure if its worth taking to the bank!
