The girls in school loved it. A few of them even recorded us with their camcorder lol. Ahh the good ol days when R&B was a real influence.

@Carolina_girl865 жыл бұрын
So sweet! I wish I would've been able to say the same. Thought my marriage would last as long as my parent's, 43 years and counting. My husband and I only stayed married 5 yrs. He became an abusive narcissist when I was pregnant with our first and only child back in late 2015/early 2016 and it went downhill from there. We played this song and Together Forever by Shai at our wedding. Never knew I'd be a single mom and divorced ever since a little girl thinking of my life when I grew up. But happy for couples who can stay together through thick and thin forever.

*This video was one of many during the late 80's early 90's that made me want to go to college as a little kid. I remember the positive images of Black college life on TV. Of course 'The Cosby Show' and 'A Different World' will always be two of the first things that comes to mind for most but I also remember a few music videos such as TLC's 'Baby, Baby, Baby' and Lords of the Underground's video 'Here come the Lords' that portrayed the Black college experience. I always wondered what it would have been like to be a Black college student at an HBCU during the late 80's, early 90's. It seemed like it was a good time!*
@kelvineniafegiwa90248 жыл бұрын
So true. Watching the composition and imagery throughout the video reminded me of Ta'Nehisi Coates' book, Between The World and Me, in which he akins Harvard University to an African American/Black Mecca that exemplified the myriad beauties inherent within our people and the beauty within such a concentrated population of people from all stretches of the diaspora.

That Black college vibe was so positive. The sad part is that it was more popular with Black people than White. Mainstream culture wanted more of the gangsta vibe, the violence, the negativity...and they got it. I look at the song "Waterfalls" by TLC as the end of an era & a warning. Look how quickly things derailed by the early 00's. A few major artists today are bringing back the intellect and resurrecting the music, but the vibe of the late 80's and early 90's is unmatched.

It was so Beautiful to just show LOVE toward our sisters BECAUSE WE MEN THEN WERE "NOT" SCARD TOO... The "TRUST" and "LOVE" was "TRULY" there to say the least... I had the Time of my LIFE in College and these Songs Playing on the Airways (RADIO) and in The Air was "ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL"... It's SAD and BREAKS my HEART that many of us "BLACKS/ HEBREWS" did "NOT" LEARN anything from the Period... THIS IS "TRUE" BEAUTIFUL, RESPECTFUL, HONORING, COMMITTED, LOVING MUSIC... @jack1uptone9639 жыл бұрын
Yeah, life seemed completely different, much more beautiful and interesting. The music in those days really reflected that.If I could get in a time machine and go back to those days any time i want, I would take trips to the 90's or 80's like 3 times a week.
@mercedes25fl9 жыл бұрын
Jack1uptone OMG yes take me back with you plsss lol i miss the music soo much! Todays music just doesnt compare to the 90s. Pure crap out today.
@jack1uptone9639 жыл бұрын
*Mercedes Yoli* Yes, a lot of people feel the same about the comparisons of music today vs those days.These days you might get something that make you feel good that will be something memorable one day but only like 3 or 4 times a year, but back then it was at least half of everything they played on the radio every day.
@OUtkast197820079 жыл бұрын
Jack1uptone yea that's why I been working on a time machine so I can go back to 90s and stay there for the rest of my life.. If i get it working i will let Ya'll know!!
