I first heard Shakatak on an LP in 1981, the record in question was Slipstream featuring the best of British Jazz Funk. I been a fan ever since, Jill Saward has a most distinctive voice. This should be blasting on a warm summers night, if we ever get one here in Newcastle.

Veramente mitici!!!!!!!!!!. Storica band all'unisono tra jazz funky & fusion, senza dimenticare il ritmo Brazilero, con cui interpretano questa Groove. Grandiosi tutti!!!!!!!!!: il tastierista, il batterista, il percussionista, il bassista con lo "slap" e, in fine, la bravissima cantante anche lei percussionista. Grazie poi, all'indimenticabile George Duke (R.I.P.).

they had a little bit of a Manhattan Transfer thing going on Shakatak. All talented and harmonised extremely well, I was a big fan. I'm not sure why they weren't more popular.

Not many new versions are ever better than the original, but in my opinion, this is one of the exceptions to the rule, much as I love George Duke. I could say the same about Lalah Hathaway “Little Ghetto Boy” compared to her dad, Donny. Quite a rare phenomenon.
