I remember sitting in front of the TV waiting for this show. He is my Elvis. From lyrics to music, he's hands down the best, and this was an amazing Era. I've followed Shake since NYE 1979 and 2023 I'm going to be there again. I'm so completely stoked.

Man that takes me back. Saturday nights meant SNL, Monty python, and the little ol’ show. Little ol’ show was what inspired me to get my first guitar.

Between 1978 and 1980 we lived to see the Shake Russell Band in Houston. I got my neighbors to go with me. We took coffee cans filled with beans to shake to the music. Corky's and Fitzgerald's and other small clubs hosted the band, as well as other venues. Saw them at the Opry House, and even the Kerr Music Festival. It was always pure magic. I am 71 now and I have never seen/heard anything better.

I ran camera for this show. Great to see it again! What memories. Fun working with Bruce Bryant, always. Love Shake!

That must’ve been fun. Did you film this same show? I’ve been a Shake fan since 1978. What was the date of this concert?

I ran camera for this, yes. It was probably 1979, give or take a year. I loved Shake & the band and was lucky to work at KPRC-TV Channel 2 in Houston at this time. Special times for sure.

I’ve been going to Shake’s concerts since the late 1970s. I saw him a lot at the Jalapeño Tree in Webster when he played with Jack Saunders. When they played the music was magical. They had a great chemistry together. I remember telling Jack during a break that was the best music ever. I wonder if they still play together from time to time. I just tried to get tickets to Shake’s show at the Mucky Duck for Friday, February 23 but all the tables were sold out. They only had bar seats and they won’t work because of severe back pain. I need a back on a chair. It’s a shame since I haven’t seen him since before the pandemic. You’re the best Shake! Love your music!!!

Probably 1977/1978. I moved to Houston June '77, left March '79. Saw him play in bars in SW Houston and around the Montrose area several times. Front table, small venue, intimate & personal - was so great. Then "Songs on the Radio" was released.
