I see her blink roughly three times in this whole scene. Such a subtle yet brilliant way of portraying her power and control in this scene. Acting at its finest.

Judi Dench portrays the elegance and dignity of the legendary English monarch brilliantly. Firm, commanding, dignified. She is an amazing actress!

Brilliant. In real life Queen Elizabeth was on genius level IQ and smarter than everyone in the room. And truly knew everything going on.

Nearly shat myself when she defied Elizabeth’s opinion and the queen did not stir at all. She’s like a majestic dragoness that had a storm brewing inside her. Calm yet ready to strike if she so deemed it

Elizabeth in her youth and prime was notoriously beautiful, but in her later years she visibly aged, wearing heavy white make up, her teeth were ravaged and she wore wigs to conceal her thinning hair.

probably not a rare occurrence in those years--the loss of beauty, I mean. Or teeth. Or hair.

and what do you think you’ll look like when you’re old? lol everybody gets old. some people have better genes when it comes to that, and some age differently. some people take better care of themselves, and others don’t.

When I see this scene... it's like witnessing Queen Elizabeth the First of England talking to herself across the passage of time. Princess Elizabeth talking to Queen Elizabeth. ♥ this film. Brilliant, joyous and blooming marvelous!

The Queen deliberately gauged Viola as having been "plucked" by someone else. And she still handed her to Lord Wessex, before God. The Queen knew exactly what she was doing.

Great movie and one of several wonderful scenes. Viola had the courage to speak of love to the Queen much to the shock of the entire audience including the Queen. I must take this opportunity to say the scene which moved me the most is when Viola says, "Every word!"

I'm in that scene... I was the page in the black & gold with the big floppy hat, standing under the window @ 2m 45s until the end of the scene. Judi Dench stands in front for a bit ... She was very nice on set. My stuff was all night shoots and it was bloody freezing! Gwyneth Paltrow was an uppity pre-madonna even back then.
