En Barranquilla (y muchas partes de la costa Colombiana) existe una fuerte colonia Árabe, que desde hace años migró a Colombia y se fusionó con la cultura Caribe/Colombiana. Así es, Colombia, Venezuela y Brasil siempre contaron con gran población de diferentes países árabes, también con descendientes de turcos y griegos. Sin contar con las olas migratorias de la Europa mediterránea y más. En el caso de Shakira tentó entendido que su tatarabuelo por parte paterna era libanês y ya el resto de la generación nació en Colombia menos su padre ya que sus abuelos de Colombia emigraron a USA y al poco tiempo de nacer el Sr Willian y por el tema de la legalidad decidieron volverse a Colombia donde se crió, estudio y vivió prácticamente toda su vida. Como pasa en muchos países latinoamericanos con familias que no vienen de una 2da generación se pierde el idioma pero quedan las raíces, mantienes costumbres y sesgos culturales, Shakira y sus hermanos nunca aprendieron árabe sino algunas palabras y canciones, éso también me pasó que de oído aprendía las canciones árabes y otras hebreas sin saber hablar casi nada de ambos idiomas. Te quedas con la gastronomía, bailes, algunos rituales o cábalas como quieran llamarle. Sin embargo hay otros que si mantienen el idioma y esto se da cuando desciende del lado materno más que del paterno al menos que el padre sea estricto con idioma y religión cosa que en los 70,80 no se caía tanto como en la actualidad.
