Yay, I've learned to play this. But I'm really suffocating myself with the last sound. I guess I'll spend some more time with this song just polishing the technique and working with my breathing. There are not many channels like this one, so I thought I'd say thank you. Seems like quite a lot of valuable content already

Wda monk, thank you so much for the comment. I agree, there really are not channels like this and I hope to expand it more and give even more content!

It's that switch to kan after the ri note that trips me up every time. My ro notes are always otsu. Sigh

I have a bunch of lessons on this and tips through the shoden series on my membership consider joining. but in the mean time, be sure that you a changing the octave with the lips not with the breath, ie pushing harder to get more air out.

I wish there would be a dynamic hole image displayed that shows which holes are closed and opened as the teacher plays. I would really be able to learn Shakuhachi like this. Each hole should have the relevant Japanese character and English pronunciation written next to it.

Or just memorize the notes. Too much visual assistant becomes a crutch for playing shakuhachi. Keep working hard! You can do it

This is a perfect song to start practicing basic pitches! Thank you for the video! We need more songs like this... Is there any book with basic songs/scores for Shakuhachi begginers? Or do you have more videos like this?

I have a bunch of pieces that I teach in my studio. I have a bunch of them scattered across an array of books.

This video helped so much to help me learn. I have a $40 shakuhatchi i bought from amazon. It was fun for a while and is becoming limiting. Is there a good place to buy a shakuhatchi for under $200?
