They are very different things....This is not to take away from her mental calculation and arithmetic prowess, which was indeed incredible.

tania bhaumik calculation is a great tool for mathematics but that’s it. It’s like a calculator. Solving theorems and proving concepts needs strong mathematical education. Shakuntala didn’t pursue maths education at higher levels. She had a super talent for quick calculations and her father being a circus performer used it to make a show for herself. He taught her these calculating tricks and paraded her around Europe as a little child prodigy and made money that way. I don’t know if she ever went to regular school. It worked really well for her. But she wasn’t a mathematician in pure sense.

Yeah, same. It seems so distasteful. And I think he didn't like the trailer. He seemed a bit annoyed during the reaction, or is it just me? I think he understands that these over the top trailers and dance numbers work in India, and he's grown too Indian for it to bother him too much. He knows it's there, he tries to put up with it and not be that guy.

She was a brilliant mathematician and a pretty gutsy writer. She wrote a book published in 1977.The book investigates the life of gays in India and abroad. The first of it's kind in India. It contains personal interviews with homosexuals in India and abroad. It touches on many aspects of the subject and makes a plea for more humane, compassionate approach towards the gay community and also gives a rational scrutiny of the social and psychological repercussions of discriminatory behavior on individuals.

Whereas in English its not possible to add those details, like maatraa, half letters, etc. That's one of the reason's Hindi and Sanskrit are a lot better than English

Everyone have funny light moments in their life just as Ramanujan or John nash would've had but including those moments as part of movie is just distracting & spoils the genre.. it makes movie less appealing to watch.. instead more focus on her mathematical capabilities leaves one in awe & makes movie more likeable instead of randomly incorporating funny moments which pulls out your attention...

It's a mixed and diverse culture. We spent our childhood by solving her Mathematics books in Schools. There is not a single person in India who doesn't know her name. She has written 1000s of books on Mathematics.
