This bad habit of pot shotting (not that I'm saying pot shots are bad) are product of elite boxers consistently facing mismatch oppositions. Most of them perhaps thought that they are Floyd Mayweather who loves to do this against anyone. But Floyd pot shots because of his brittle hands and the fact that he was simply that good, not so much because he's fights are completely mismatch. So, when these fighters are facing opponents that can fight back, they are having a hard time to adjust with this bad habits: Tank Davis vs Isaac Cruz, Teofimo Lopez vs George Kambosos, Devin Haney vs Lomachenko, to name a few.

There's something about top fighters like Shakur, Davis, Haney, Spence and Crawford that set them apart from other boxers, they have this ability of picking up patterns in their opponents attack and defense that they incorporate the information into their rhythm and start to pick you apart. I don't think they even notice it themselves, its just natural to them but very rare among boxers, that's why its so hard to beat them. Once Stevenson goes up to 135, it’s over. Even Gervonta better move his ass up to 140.
