BIz, I'm back! I was the first little bug in your ear saying you really should do CODA. Please make sure to do the following additional tracks, found on the 1993 release of CODA: 1) Hey, Hey, What Can I Do 2) Traveling Riverside Blues 3) Baby Come On Home 4) White Summer/Black Mountain Side These are some of the coolest Led Zeppelin tracks ever, and trust me, you don't want to miss these! That live performance I have watched countless times, as it is my favorite show of theirs, and it sounds like this is that live performance to me, but the mixing or something sounds a little different somehow. I just can't put my finger on it. Robert's vocal track is an exact match, that much I am sure of. "I Can't Quit You Baby" on CODA is from RAH 1970 as well.

After listening again, it's the guitar that sounds different.

Some of the songs on Coda were recorded early but finished up by Jimmy much later. This one was recorded live in 1970, then Page added overdubs much later (so it doesn't have the same sound as the early albums). Yay, you're finally doing CODA! Maybe you'll start doing the lives after you finish it? Oh, I hope so! My favorite song from the original 1982 release is "I Can't Quit You Baby". After Bonham died, the band I believe contractually still owed one more album. So page went through songs they decided against putting on their albums, & came up with this. As another commenter said, other bands wish their best songs, were LZ B side songs. Thank you for coming back, to react to my favorite band again.

The difference too with Led Zeppelin, they had very few songs that may not be your favorite. I have two I’m not crazy about, but I can’t say I hate them either, they just are at the bottom of my list. Other bands had a few I liked, but more I wasn’t crazy about. Led Zeppelin also has a range of genres, & Plant used his vocals to make them different.

Neither of those were on the original album they were first released either as singles or on the box sets/remasters, and then as bonus tracks on the Coda reissue.

Not sure if that's my favourite song from Coda, but it's in the running, along with "I Can't Quit You Baby" and "Darlene". And even though the fourth Zeppelin album is about as close to perfect as an album can be, my favourite from the Zep is Physical Graffiti.

It's a real album. The songs aren't "rejected" songs....they are songs that were not released on the previous albums. On Physical Graffiti, many previously unreleased tracks found their way onto that album....that doesn't mean they were "rejected" tracks....they just didn't fit properly into previous albums.
@Veggamattic2 ай бұрын
Isn't that just 21st century semantics?
@tektoniks_architects2 ай бұрын
No. If you know anything about how Jimmy Page built their albums, you would know that each song was carefully selected and placed in a certain order on the album for a reason. For each album, they always recorded more material than would fit on a vinyl album side, so eventually they had to make decisions about what the feel of the album would be, and which songs fit and which didn't. The ones that didn't fit weren't rejected....they were saved for a time when they fit the album better.

This is the depressing Led Zep album because John had died and it was not exciting when it came out but the best song is Poor Tom from the LZ 3 sessions ..That is a matter of opinion anyways because they all are great.

This is a very strange mix. In the beginning of the song, every body except Jimmy sounds exactly as it does live at Royal Albert Hall. Very strange guitar sounds going around. Then the first solo is insanely odd sounding to me. Does anyone know if the original release of Coda sounds like this or is some crap in the remastering process? Live in 1970, Royal Albert Hall. Buckle up Biz. It's a fast, wild ride. kzbin.info/www/bejne/al6zYqJmgKZ3j80si=TpnKYidD_HPJtX_u

I agree with you. It sounds just like that show, except for the guitar, doesn't it. That sounded really off to me as well. My original CODA album was lost to me so long ago that I'm not sure if it matches this or not. It sure seems like something is off about it though. I've watched the RAH '70 show (my favorite one by far) so many times now that that is now what I hear in my head now to compare this to. I wish I still had my original album so I would know the answer to that question. ☮️
