I owned a 85 Z28 and a 99 Z28 and I used to watch this guy a lot. He makes good videos with excellent content but I sold both rides and drive my 1 owner S 10 4 cyl with 330K miles, all city in HOT Texas.

Ha! I drive the same. I'm ready to yank that dang four-popper and replace it with a SC 3800.

Adding another fuse box to my 99 F-350, doing a interior swap with heated and cooled front and heated rear seats with an inverter in the center console. Have the battery wire and fuse block built, but was wondering about a relay trigger. For sure do not want the heated and cooled seats working with the ignition switch off. Your video gave me a place to start thinking about how to accomplish this. Thank you.

I used an OEM CPU to run my LS swap, and purchased the wiring "plug-n-play" from Speartech, excellent quality and lots of post purchases Q&A help. this came with the fuse-box / relays pre-wired and ready to connect worked great. Then for my duel fans control via my CPU, I used BP Automotive controls, excellent clean install, works perfectly.

big thumbs up! caught this video b/c the tickler image included the Dakota digital box. Currently acquiring the components for a Toyota land Cruiser v-8 conversion. have 327 mounted currently but need to look forward to possible LS motor, after body work , drivability, and coach work completed. Dakota digital will be part of that b/c of the flexibility for that future. Thanks for posting. Complete clear and importantly, short. Subscribed! by the way CAT parts are first rate. I have used their diesel hand priming pumps on frame, their ignition switches and other components.

I used to work in a wiring harness manufacturing facility - this video triggered my PTSD. We used a lot of these same terminals, seals, connectors buss bars, etc. That said, great job with the wiring here (some of it is better than what we did, but that's a story for another day). I would be very confident in this and would run it myself. Kudos.

Good times! This is something I'm going to do for some of my circuits. The factory waiting from this time period wasn't the best. I'm sure you have seen some hot connections due to the wire being overloaded. I'm going with a pro-flo 4 and Hawks Dakota digital. The dash will eliminate a bunch of wiring and make life a lot easier. No more PASS (vats) box either. Good video. Thank you!

These Bussman devices are quite nice. I only wish they had a version that included the engage bus bar also.

Great video 📹 👍. What are your 5 main relays?? Also what accessories are you gonna have? I did extra factory accessories for my Trans am with the stock fuse box. Very informative 👏. Thank you sir

the relays are a super common 35amp "Song Chuan 301-1A-C-R1-U03 12VDC Micro 280". It's the same type or relay used in newer cars.

How hard would this be to basically redo a whole 3rd gen? Utilizing stock harnesses like headlights/brights, running lights, all rear lights, and then adding in custom work for the engine bay, and dash set up. I'm carb'd right now so it will be pretty easy I feel, but in the future I'll b wanting to go LS and I'll probably use a PSI harness. So many ways to handle this but I just need to clean my situation up sine th car was stopped midway through a lt1 dash swap and left it all virtually a mess :(

much easier if you have a street car. as you'd only need a universal chassis harness. but wiring really depends on your skill level. it could be ez for you, or a nightmare.

I have the same relay/fuse box and just wanted some clarification. You wired up the 2 power distribution wires that came from C100 to 30 Amp fuses and got rid of the fusible links correct?
@3rdGenGuy
@3rdGenGuy Жыл бұрын
Yes, I covered the c100 wiring in this video below. since my car is stripped down, I actually powered both c100 power wires of a single 30 amp fuse. But two 30 amp fuses is more than enough for a factory car setup.(HVAC exe) kzbin.info/www/bejne/iaG4Z5mPf5WgkLM

@@3rdGenGuy Why did you choose not to use the Eaton Bussmann box with both positive and negative buss bars built in? I'm (trying) to use one to wire up my carbed 3rd gen, but am confused on using it with the temp switch that grounds the circuit when it reaches temp.

What jaw letter are you using for your crimpers?
@3rdGenGuy
@3rdGenGuy 5 ай бұрын
depends. weather packs use the C die the metri packs use a die that looks like the C die but a bit larger. 3m terminals use a A5 crimp set Heat Shrink Butt Connectors use A1 die

What is this big thing with a lot of inputs/outputs next to the relay box at the end of the video when you where testing everything

not that it makes a big difference but you installed the cavity plug plugs backwards. the blue clips are called "terminal plug assurance", TPA

i'm fairly certain the plugs are installed correctly. but ya, it's under my dash so no water is anywhere near it.
