One piece adds stuff but it never skips material from the manga. The Shaman King anime rushed through the first 2 chapters and it's gonna skip 3,4 and 5 completely. It won't be a faithful adaptation with that fast pacing.

I was a big shaman king fan back in the day although I did not watch all episodes since I was a kid who watched it occasionally on TV only. Could you tell me if I should rewatch the old shaman King before going into the 2021 version or is this a complete reboot, meaning everything will be told again?

I've watched Shaman King recently and really loved it, and also like the ending even though it was a different approach from the source. Though I have big problems with slapstick comedy, fillers and conflicts between heroes over small reasons. The reboot looks like will have less episodes, more streamlined and serious story and as close to the source as possible. I dunno how much will they compare, but if you don't have a lot of free time, 75% of both anime is supposed to be exactly identical.

true they did censored some stuff but not really important moments like some other shows back then like Sailor Moon where boy was that show very different in tone it was a lot more dark than what ever the dub version was in shaman king they just censored some crosses on church and some stuff with the religion aspect of the X laws that is about it

It's getting the FMAB treatment and i don't like it honestly, adapting the manga fully is nice and all but it shouldn't be at the expense of rushing episodes that were already animated prior.

Seems like so far it is fast paced and they are not censoring anything even the backstories for some characters. The animation and character designs are vibrant and definitely see blood and violence in it. Also more faithful to the manga although less filler might make it feel rushed

I dunno man but the fact that Harusame (amidamaru's sword) wasn't "crying" at the musem and yoh and manta had to sleep in the museum so they could see mosuke in the new adaptation kinda bothered me :\,I remember it being a really big deal with it's whole backstory. I know they had to shrink it but that was a really cool fragment.

The biggest thing that bothered me so far is how unemotional Lee Pai Long's story was here. I remember getting really attached to him in the original because his backstory and how they were hyping him up in the training sessions was really fleshed out.

Why didn't they keep the same opening from the 2003 dub! Was literally my favourite theam song of any anime after pokemon.. I was so looking forward to hearing it again I the reboot.. they need to bring it back!

Yep, that's right. Out of the mangas well the complete kodansha reprint is the perfect or the complete edition, definetly the best one yet, sk zero is a great manga. Only 10 chapters, delving into backstories of certain characters, flowers followed by superstar is probably something to wait on and look forward to, so there's that, red crimson is done so, there's that.

At least in the UK, I remember this running on Jetix, but only the first 20-30 episodes. Whenever it was on I would watch it, only to be disappointed that it was the same episode I'd already seen about 5 times.

I started watching Shaman King last year (mid2019-2020 , I found out about the anime in the middle of 2019) I am almost at the end , but I was waiting for the reboot since then too , I got into the series real fast and I even started reading the manga . It must have been pain to wait THAT long I ended with episode 40 something so I am getting soon to the end - episode after episode (I am binge watching animes that I love) I'm hyped , sadly we will have to wait longer for the series to come on Netflix

Anyway, get a vpn and set it to japan, it should appear then ( i recomend Tunnelbear or Surfshark)

I heard that the 52 episodes are supposed to cover the entire manga but I hope they'll realize it's not possible to have 288 chapters in 52 episodes without rushing it like crazy. It's kind of ass that we have to wait a whole year for the conclusion of this 'series'. Those 52 episodes, 1 per week.. Man it will be a pain to wait..\ But i waited 15 years already so i guess it could be worse :D

Theres is another factor to consider about this Shaman King reboot, it looks to be adapting the 35 volume manga run not the 32 volume manga run. The manga originally ended abruptly (A female version of Manta waking from a dream if I remember?) before getting a reprint later. The Kang Zeng Bang version ditched the original ending, replaced some chapters and renumbered the later chapters then continued on to the now proper ending. Continuing your example, imagine if the original Full Metal Alchemist was made and censored by 4kids, then the manga got cancelled a couple volumes before the end and had a rushed ending swapped in. Years later the manga was completed properly and we are now getting a non-4kids censorerd adapation of the completed manga, with possible sequel/prequels to go with it. This could be a bigger deal to Shaman King than Brotherhood was to FMA.

@@axel7408 have you not notice the first scene of yoh and hao is born it was not shown in the old anime until further episode, the scene is skipped comparing it to the manga scene also the visuals are the same as the manga and new episode 3 scene where Manta stealing Ryu wooden sword and Ryu still a Bad Guy and smashing a book on him is based on manga compared to the old anime where Ryu is already nice and help Yoh after Ren beat him also helping Manta to the gang that Manta getting wooden sword to the other thugs
