I’m an Iranian and it’s true. Many Iranians left Shia Islam. Thankfully, there are some Armenian and Assyrian church literature so some are even converting to Christ in hiding.

Between the two main Apostolic churches, the way I see it is: who emphasises more the main purpose of Christianity - the union with God - Theosis / Divinization? I have lived amongst Catholics all my life and not once did I hear that the purpose of life was Theosis. It took me less than a month of looking into Orthodoxy to get it: Theosis is what it's all about - and all the Church dogmas were designed to protect it. I am now a catechumen to the Orthodox church. And by the way, any Muslim reading this, your purpose of life is said to be "to worship Allah". That means nothing but be a slave to Muhammad. The purpose of Theosis is eternal life with God, who wants you to be with Him; starting now.

He should look into the Orthodox Church. I think he converted to Islam because he wanted something in-depth, not because it's true. He can find the truth & rigourous call to holiness in the Orthodox Church.

👏🏽 Good Analogy Sam. I never used that one but many similar connotations. I often say our Protestant brothers and sisters are also Christians and believers and some are very good holy Christians. But I rather have the “FULLNESS” of the truth and the more ancient original version. I agree it IS tough to find the most correct beyond that though. I’ve gone back and forth between Ortho and Catholic. They both have a very similar and most ancient history. They both have proofs and Saints and miracles and documents. They each have their pros and cons and I love both and been members of both. I also agree the key and point is to serve God(Trinity) and try to find the most correct/ original as best we know how and also to what or where we feel God calling us and leading us to. And worse case even some Protestant or Evangelical churches would work. But may God lead and guide us on his journey.
