I don't think Shamsi understood what the other guy was trying to say, and it all got lost in a silly arguement. This would have been an interesting debate. The guy was basically saying you follow the message that Muhammed brought, ie: the Quran, rather than the sunah because Muhammed is not here himself to teach it, and you have to rely on sunnah/hadith, which are not divine in origin. The Quran is divine, and was promised to be preserved. This was basically his arguement. I think shamsi should and could have easily answered it rather than both of them starting to shout. Because it's a pretty good question, and an interesting subject.

A hadith shouldn't be confused with the statements or actions of the prophet. Those who claim hadith to be the words or actions of the prophet run high risk of attributing falsehood to the prophet no matter how nice they sound or appear. Any hadith is actually an alleged saying attributed to the prophet and propagated through a chain of 7-8 narrators over 200 years or more. What we have (for eg. in Bukhari collection) are 7000+ hadith categorized by Bukhari (not by Allah or the prophet) as authentic from a total collection of 700,000 hadith circulating at his time. Hadith are mere hearsay. It is something like A heard from B who heard from C who heard from D....who heard from G who claimed that the prophet said / did so and so. In modern terminology this is called Chinese Whisper, which has no credibility in preserving information. Try circulating a paragraph of text through a chain of 10 narrators and verify for yourself. The methodology that was used to authenticate hadith is called ``Sound chain of narration". In this, the character, sincerity and mental health etc. of narrators in a particular chain was evaluated by hadith compilers several decades / centuries after the narrators had died. This act of character evaluation involved backbiting and slandering which is considered a sin in Islam according to the Quran. The organized slandering and backbiting was conducted at an unprecedented scale in human history. In Quran, Allah tells us that there were hypocrites among the sahaba and the prophet had no idea about them. Ironically, in one hadith prophet is alleged to have said that on the day of judgment some of his companions will be take away from him and Allah will inform about their bad deeds. It is interesting how hadith collectors could evaluate the characters of those narrators who were dead long back and even prophet himself was not aware of their character. The most authentic collections of Bukhari and Muslim do not match 100\% because of personal biases and judgment. These two major collections are rejected by the Shiits sect of Islam as unreliable. Thus is can be said that belief in a certain set of hadith automatically divides the Muslim ummah into at least two distinct sects: Sunni and Shiits. Such sectarian divide is strictly prohibited by Allah. There is a consensus that there is not a single hadith in the entire collection which can be considered a verbatim quotation from the prophet. Just like majority of Jewish, Christian, Hindu scholars can be wrong about the basic of religious beliefs it should not come as a surprise that the majority of Muslim scholars are also wrong. In fact, Quran criticizes those people who follow scholars, ulema blindly and take them as Gods. One can find story tales, blasphemy of the highest order, contradictions, unscientific and illogical stuffs attributed to the prophet. In fact one can use hadith to project the prophet with diametrically extreme and opposite personality characterwise. Most of the abuse that the enemies of Islam hurl upon our prophet has some basis in these hadith collections. Although, the clergymen and hadith followers claim that they let Quran superseded hadith, there are numerous occasions where the verse from the Quran are abrogated by hadith despite a command from Allah that none (including the prophets) can abrogate his verses. I would recommend our hadith (sectarian books of contradictory "authentic" hadith collections) worshipping brothers to come out of ignorance and realize the beauty of Quran alone.

If you don’t read it, just know that you don’t want to hear proof because your rejection of the sunnah is not valid. What is a hadith- literally it is a statement. You claim you love Allah? let’s test that out. Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم to mankind): "If you (really) love Allâh then follow me (i.e. accept Islâmic Monotheism, follow the Qur’ân and the Sunnah), Allâh will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." Quran 3:31 If you love Allah and want Him to love you, then follow the prophet muhammad (peace be upon him him). Truly i fear for you, i fear that you will find on the day of judgment what you were not expecting because anyone who denies just part of the sunnah and the prohibitions and commandments and the teachings of the prophet muhammad (peace be upon him) knowingly (knowing Allah commands us to follow him, and to those who follow other than him are the astray, and the proof is established.) is a disbeliever. So how about denying ALL of it. Allah the Mighty and Majestic said [in the Qur’an]: “And whatsoever the Messenger gives you, take it, and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain (from it)” 59:7 And this one says, I only take from the Qur’an. “And whatsoever the Messenger gives you, take it” He says, No, I won’t take. What sort of speech is this?! Allaah warns us not to go against the Prophet (peace be upon him), and states that whoever disobeys him will be doomed to eternal Hell. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “. . . And let those who oppose the Messenger’s commandment beware, lest some fitnah (trial, affliction, etc.) befall them or a painful torment be inflicted on them.” [al-Nur 24:63] The Quran is preserved through ahadith from the prophet muhammad peace be upon him. The Quran is preserved through authentic chains of narrations. Same as the Hadith. They have been rigorously authenticated. Allah promised to protect the Quran and the Hadith: ‎وَأَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكَ ٱلذِّكْرَ لِتُبَيِّنَ لِلنَّاسِ مَا نُزِّلَ إِلَيْهِمْ وَلَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ And We sent down to you the Remembrance (dhikr), that you may make clear to the mankind, what has been sent down to them and that they may reflect. Quran 16:44 this is referring to the hadith because it is talking about the prophet muhammad (peace be upon him) making clear to people (explaining) the Quran (what has been sent down to them). The hadith explains the Quran (for example: The quran says: pray, we learn from the hadith how to pray. and same with zakat and fasting and all of the actions) {Indeed, it is We who sent down the Remembrance (dhikr) and indeed, We will be its guardian.} (Al-Hijr 15:9) Here the word Dhikr is used, the same word used when referring to the sunnah in the verse i mentioned before this. Allah promises to protect it, the Quran and sunnah are called dhikr (in the Quran itself) How can u say you follow the Quran when you don’t follow the prophet muhammad peace be upon him. The 'closeness' in the verse, by consensus of scholars, refers to "nearness in terms of all-encompassing knowledge" not in terms of physical closeness. The only thing that divides the muslims into 72 sects is the hadith is it not? Due to various sects accepting different hadith and understandings? Actually muslims are not divided because of hadith, rather because of themselves, for ex 12er shias believe ali(ra) and the 12 imams are not regular humans they attribute Devine attributes to them , this is not because of misunderstanding of the hadith or the quran rather they should blame themselves, another example is using philosophy and logic , people's use of logic is imperfect, so that imperfect use of logic led them to distort the names and attributes of Allah that he revealed in the Quran and this actually led to the formation of many sects that are non shia like the mutazila, jahmia , qadiria, ashaira, maturidia... so you can't blame hadith or the Quran, if people followed the quran and hadith instead of their desires there would be no sects and we would be one United ummah.

You claim you love Allah? let’s test that out. Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم to mankind): "If you (really) love Allâh then follow me (i.e. accept Islâmic Monotheism, follow the Qur’ân and the Sunnah), Allâh will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." Quran 3:31 If you love Allah and want Him to love you, then follow the prophet muhammad (peace be upon him him). Truly i fear for you, i fear that you will find on the day of judgment what you were not expecting because anyone who denies just part of the sunnah and the prohibitions and commandments and the teachings of the prophet muhammad (peace be upon him) knowingly (knowing Allah commands us to follow him, and to those who follow other than him are the astray, and the proof is established.) is a disbeliever. So how about denying ALL of it. Allah the Mighty and Majestic said [in the Qur’an]: “And whatsoever the Messenger gives you, take it, and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain (from it)” 59:7 And this one says, I only take from the Qur’an. “And whatsoever the Messenger gives you, take it” He says, No, I won’t take. What sort of speech is this?! Allaah warns us not to go against the Prophet (peace be upon him), and states that whoever disobeys him will be doomed to eternal Hell. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “. . . And let those who oppose the Messenger’s commandment beware, lest some fitnah (trial, affliction, etc.) befall them or a painful torment be inflicted on them.” [al-Nur 24:63] The Quran is preserved through ahadith from the prophet muhammad peace be upon him. The Quran is preserved through authentic chains of narrations. Same as the Hadith. They have been rigorously authenticated. Allah promised to protect the Quran and the Hadith: ‎وَأَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكَ ٱلذِّكْرَ لِتُبَيِّنَ لِلنَّاسِ مَا نُزِّلَ إِلَيْهِمْ وَلَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ And We sent down to you the Remembrance (dhikr), that you may make clear to the mankind, what has been sent down to them and that they may reflect. Quran 16:44 this is referring to the hadith because it is talking about the prophet muhammad (peace be upon him) making clear to people (explaining) the Quran (what has been sent down to them). The hadith explains the Quran (for example: The quran says: pray, we learn from the hadith how to pray. and same with zakat and fasting and all of the actions) {Indeed, it is We who sent down the Remembrance (dhikr) and indeed, We will be its guardian.} (Al-Hijr 15:9) Here the word Dhikr is used, the same word used when referring to the sunnah in the verse i mentioned before this. Allah promises to protect it, the Quran and sunnah are called dhikr (in the Quran itself) How can u say you follow the Quran when you don’t follow the prophet muhammad peace be upon him. How do you think his companions practiced islam? you think they rejected what he had to say and said i will only listen to the Quran when the quran was revealed to him and when it says to Obey Allah AND His messenger in the Quran. How can you claim to follow the quran when it says to obey the messenger and whatever the messenger has prohibited you from doing, don’t do it. You can’t say that you don’t trust people to narrate it, then how do you believe in the quran when the Quran was narrated from people and authenticated chains of narrations. Please understand that the shahadah is: I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah Alone and i testify that Muhammed is His messenger. You can’t fulfill the shahadah if you deny the prophet muhammad (peace be upon him) How do you know how to pray? how to pay zakah? how to fast? how to live????? I advise you, do not follow your desires, there is innumerable proofs in the quran to follow the sunnah and there is not one single proof that says that you follow otherwise. You must submit to the Will of Allah, there are somethings we cannot understand with our intellect and due to our ignorance we reject it, but with regards to the unseen, it is impossible for us to fully comprehend it and understand how it works, so if there is anything in the Quran and hadith, you know it is revelation, you know that it is from the unseen and if i can’t comprehend it, i still believe in it since it is revelation from the All- Knowing. You need to stop following your desires or doing whatever you want to do because if you reject the hadith it seems very convenient so you can reject most of what we are told to do and stay away from. That way you can follow your desires and still convince yourself you’re on the truth. The truth is established and clear, if you deny, wallahi i fear for you and i will make dua for you. But ask Allah sincerely to guide both me and you. May Allah guide us all!

And how can you say i don't follow him when I follow the book he presented the book our rab says is complete? Its not the prothet I dont trust or don't want to follow! And i dont think its fair you make them accusation but i appreciate why you would. If he was here today I would follow his every step and I would probably want to write everything down which is ironic! But I wouldn't suggest people put my experiences with the prothet over the book he presented on Allah's behalf. Our prothet and guidance is Muhammad (saw) and the Quran, it is not al bukari ibn abass or any of the other companion who's saying have been passed down through translation and through the whispers of hundreds of men! May Allah be pleased with them all and forgive thier errors and reward their deeds but regardless of their deserved admiration. I can say there is doubts in hadiths genrally speaking there isn't any with the Quran! remember Allah has no partner! and he sends us his messangers and we should follow the message of those messangers. We criticise and question the bible as its the sayings of paul Peter John and so on and it can't be entirely trusted as its not jesus, but we still take heed from the books..for me the bible torah and hadith all have beneficial actions and advise we can take to bring us closer no doubt! But I wouldn't let them entirely dictate my life. Jazzakallah for your efforts may Allah help us to please him in this world and the next.

I dont understand that shamsi, when he cannot answer his own brother, he starts calling names. At least give respect, but this is with all the dawah team. When they r cornered this is what they. Secondly, I only say of Allah ﷻ what Allah ﷻ says of himself keeping in mind that there is nothing like Allah ﷻ. So when Allah ﷻ says he is rose above the throne or is established on the throne (20:4-5), I affirm that. However, when you say Allah ﷻ is everywhere, it contradicts the speech of Allah ﷻ and if implications were to be made, it would imply that Allah ﷻ is in places unbefitting of his majesty such as hell or in the toilet. May Allah ﷻ be very far above the beliefs of the Jahmiya and the people who hold onto their beliefs.
