I can't believe that I actually have ........ Optimism ..??...about where the Leafs are headed. Not JUST because they were able to nail down Matthews , but the level of ..' Raw Talent '.. from young stars - to - be like Marner and Nylander ( I probably screwed up their names ) and Reilly & Kadri look like they're poised to become the ..' Stars ' that we've patiently been waiting for. Now , with the addition of a player that has been hailed as a potential .." Franchise Player " .. plus the foundation of arguably the Best Coach in Babcock , great Hockey minds in Lou L. , and Shanahan. Yeah , that ODD .... +Jeannine Gagné You need to remember Soshnikov, Timoshov who came 6th in scoring during season and 3rd in playoffs, making it to the finals but lost in the QMJHL, Bracco had a good showing in the playoffs and season with Kitchener OHL, T.J Brennan (almost a point a game defenceman 2 years), Korostelev will look good with Soshnikov and maybe Uncle Leo Komarov. We did pretty good with the prospects we got for Winnik and Phaneuf both Connor Carrick is leading all skaters in playoffs in points and hes a defenceman and Tobias Lindberg which Ottawa didnt want to let go and which Ottawa has always drafted amazing, they have great scouts there. Lets not forget Connor Brown was rookie of the year in AHL after winning scoring title in OHL and playing with Connor Mcdavid and hes tearing it up in playoffs. Zach Hyman lets not forget. WoW. I have never had so much interest in Leaf Prospects before. It was always the other teams prospects. There is one guy who was given a try out last season but was cut and that is Michael Joly who had an amazing season in the OHL and I hope Toronto invites him again. He should come since the Leafs gave him a shot before. Everyone suddenly wants to play in Toronto. The Leafs just signed the best free agent defencemen outside the NHL Nikita Zaitev and another top goalie free agent who looked good after they were watching their NCAA prospects Dominic Toninato and Tony Cameranesi they saw Finnish goalie Kasimir Kaskisuo and scooped him up signing him to a 2 year contract. What a mouth full. looooolooolooooool. Goodbye Curse of Ballard and then Teachers Pension Fund who knew nothing about hockey and who most likely were getting juiced by Ferguson Jr overpaying players and probably getting kickbacks. How else do you explain 5 No Trade Contracts who 3 of them screwed Toronto especially the fall down Sundin who shafted Toronto by not allowing them to trade him to Detroit or a playoff team when he was a free agent that summer which gave Toronto nothing in return instead we could have started then. One thing I hate that Burke did was trade Alex Steen. What a dufus and what a face when his Calgary Flames dropped to 6th in the draft. More loooolooolooool ha ha ha. GO Leafs GO!!!!!!!!!!

I grew up in T.O., too. I have Salming, Gilmour, and Turnbull jerseys, and autographs from Sittler, Turnbull, and Dave Keon. I played road hockey with Eddie Shack when he was looking at a house across our street in Willowdale. Just once, I'd like to get that Leafs tattoo, right over my heart. I'm 57, and the sun is going down.

Finally starting to feel confident in my team again. I wouldnt bet on them signing Stamkos or even Tavares in the next couple years. Like we've heard shanny, Lou and babs say they have a plan and theyre not going to take shortcuts. picking up a huge contract like those two while in a rebuild is not smart. It takes up cap space when you could be using it for finding good players with much smaller contracts. The leafs have too many good prospects that they will trade some of them when the time is right for a playoff run for some key pieces. until then they'll be taking filler spots. They're making progress towards a team we can be proud of again

People like to make fun of the Leafs but what people dont realize is Toronto Fans have no voice when it comes to ownership and from Ballard to the Teachers Pension Fund its been a joke ownership. Once Bell and Rogers took over you know they want a championship because with sports networks and with corporations like Bell and Rogers its about more profit and the only way you get that is with a Championship and only with a competitive team year in and year out. It was a turn around for Toronto and it reflected with who they hired as Vp to Coach then GM and all the Scouts. Everyone wants to come to Toronto for the first time in a very long time. They media did not make it easy for players to want to come here. The bottom line is, everyone laughed but we will have the last laugh for decades to come, unless Ballard comes back from the grave and takes over again. Uh Uh aint gonna happen. looooooooooooooolooooooloooooooooloooooolooooooooooooooooooooooool ha ha ha laughing all the way to the cup sooner that people think. Stamkos must come home and Toronto must keep Matthews and get Edmontons pick and reunite Tkachuk with Marner. Would love Dvorak but thats a bit much. Who knows we have so many prospects, so so many prospects. Some won Ohl Championship, one made it to the final in the QMJHL, Marlies are almost headed to semi finals again and Canada might just pull it off. Matthews Marner Tkachuk would be awesome.
