This isnt a fire engine, it was supplied to Candy & Co, Brick and Tile Works in Newton Abbot. It is believed to have been used for pumping water & slurry in the clay pits

Hi MrJones! We were basing the description on the Shand catalogue description of this class of engine. We weren't aware of the brickworks specific use for the engine, although we did suspect it would be primarily production process over fire support. Do you have any other info on the engine? Very little history came with it when the present owner bought it.

It was advertised by Shand Mason as a 'Fire Engine & Irrigating Engine.' Would be interested to know more of its history.
