There have been quite a few that came out about James flirting with them and making them feel uncomfortable. There are also receipts for this to be proved true, so James isn't as innocent as everyone makes him out to be. He's also had his fair share of scandals like other beauty gurus. Another thing people tend to forget is that Tati gave James the career he has now. She was the one that supported him since the beginning, and even kick-started his makeup career. She saw potential in him, which is why she supported him since the beginning. He even admitted at one point that Tati was like a mother to him. Although he never seemed to appreciate that, but for some reason people like to paint him out to be such an "innocent" person when he isn't. Lastly, I'm aware that none of this excuses adults practically pushing a teen to suicidal thoughts, I'm just stating these things so everyone takes them into account.

I think what Shane meant with that comment was that Jeffree has never tried to be or pretended to be like a good person. It has always been part of him and his brand to be extra, involved in drama and putting himself in situations he doesn't belong. Jeffree makes it obvious that he isn't someone perfect and that he has his own issues, and that he isn't trying to live up to anyone else standars he is just trying to be himself. Even if being "himself" makes him a shitty person to others. James have been going more for the "family friendly", nicer and sweet type of attitude online.
