Ran into Chris Adams and Geno Hernandez at the airport in Lubbock. I was dropping off a relative, and the wrestlers were flying in for the show that night. Being 16 years old an a fan of the heels my friends and I spent our time bad mouthing the Von Erichs to the dynamic duo. Chris just smiled, but Geno cut promos on me and my friends 😂

Whatever else Chris Adams was, he also trained Stone Cold Steve Austin, who was one of the best technical wrestlers of the 90s, before his neck injury. His matches with Ricky Steamboat and Shane actually as Stunning Steve were excellent.

Chris Adams and Gino Hernandez were both classic 1980s wrestlers. Both had tremendous in-ring skills, charisma, and star power, but both self-destructed due to drugs. It is a real shame. I wonder how far both of them would have gone if they did not have issues with drugs.

Gentleman’s Choice is a great documentary and it was on KZbin. I was very close with Bill Moody (Paul bearer) for about ten years or more up until he died and I would constantly beg him to talk about world class championship wrestling and his time in Texas. I loved that territory so much as a kid. Chris Adams was my favorite. He didn’t really have much to say about him except “him and John Tatum have seen more ass than a toilet seat” 😂😂 and that he was a legit tough guy with judo training. The documentary is fascinating. The guy that killed Chris was his best friend. I’m excited to see the show on Sherri as well. She also lived in Alabama for a while and meeting her was a blast. Very sweet woman and tough as nails. I was just a teenager happy to drive these people around for local shows happy to be around the legends I grew up watching on tv or even for a few minutes.

In the early 80s WCCW was supposed to have a show in my small town. I say supposed to because Chris Adams beat his wife so badly that she had to have reconstructive surgery on her face. During the arrest he severely injured like 5 police officers. The cops were about to take him on a one way trip to the east Texas pineywood forrest. Only Fritz showing up with two shopping bags full of cash saved Chris' life.
