I believe that Ole said, "I like anyone that can make me money."

Does Tommy Rich like a wrestler? Does Tommy Rich have a good body? Do you know the reason I kept Tommy Rich around? Because the girls liked him and he made me money

That goes for all promoters back then and today with the exception of maybe Tony Khan. McMahon, Watts, Jarrett, Cornette, Heyman, and Bischoff would say that.

It sounds like it was tough to work for/with Ole, but he seemed really intelligent in his shoot interviews. I found him to be entertaining and smart
@russblack4436 ай бұрын
It wasn't tough to work with Ole At all. As long as you did what he wanted and didn't argue with him. Like George South said when Crockett took over the 6:05 time slot Dusty came in and said that if you heard you're name you have a job,if you didn't you need to get one. George didn't hear his name and asked Ole why not and he said that you weren't even considered because you're not important

@@russblack443 Lol. Thats pretty harsh
@russblack4436 ай бұрын
@@Nostalgia9478 yes Ole was pretty harsh,but George South a Christian and good worker and by everyone's admission one of the nicest guys in the business said it taught him a lesson. He also said that he got out of the ring one time and Ole told him that he looked like shit. He asked Ole why he said that and Ole told him that when he needed to worry was when he wasn't cussing him or watching his matches anymore

@@Nostalgia9478 and all the talk about Ole being a racist. His real name is Alan Rogowski. Ole is a Polack. Listen to Tommy Young's interview with Jim Cornett. Tommy's from Detroit. The largest ethnic group in the state of Michigan is the Polish. When Tommy Young brought him up his exact words were and here's Ole, nothing but a big Old dumb Polack. Ole caught just as much racial ribbing as he gave. Tony Atlas till this day will say Ole got as much as he gave. And Tony will say that the only color Ole cared about the green. Thunderbolt Patterson, who cried and played the race card whenever possible will also say that Ole was the only one that would always give him a job. Because Ole knew that t bolt drew money

Booking in the VHS age was challenging. I remember a friend of mine told me he saw Ron Simmons beat Vader for the title. It was two weeks before the syndication synced up with the cable and we saw it ourselves.

Jim Ross had described the differences on his podcast between Dusty Rhodes' booking & Ole Anderson's booking in which he used a football analogy: Dusty was more of a spread offense type of guy by putting 3-4 wide receivers on the field & throw the ball to score & Ole was more Smash mouth meaning running the football to win & ironically Shane described it the same in his own way

Booking was harder because the house shows were in real time while television syndicated in multiple markets was on a week delay
