I've seen Shane sing this a number of times during the early 2000s, and the 1st time was at the House of Blues Hollywood, which was the 1st time I met him and got to know him. And I swear to God he radiated a holy light. It shrouded around him. I was transcended to to a different place and time. He was otherworldly. I told him this, and he looked at the floor shyly and said thank you that it meant a lot because it was the 2nd time he had tried it live. And he sang it without a hitch. He was very sweet. Another rare song he'd sing occasionally live is an ancient Irish song called Graniulle. When he sang this I was moved to tears. So, thankfully, we are lucky to have both captured on recording with Across The Broad Atlantic. I really wished he'd recorded these 2 in the studio, but glad it exists live, at least. Fly away to your greener pastures, Shane OHooligan. The world is less bright without you but brighter because of you. Love jj

There are many who sing to show how well they sing. I prefer those such as Shane who sing to show how well they express living.

Great singing from Shane, but my ear picks also the banjo playing. Simple and somehow hauntingly pleasing to listen :)

That's dear old Tommy MacAnimal on banjo, who sadly is no longer with us.... he loved his drink as much as Shane, which contributed to his demise, sadly... He played quite a few gigs for me with The Popes when I promoted in Portsmouth, U.K. - including one GREAT night with Shane. Always drunk, but always kind and friendly... I miss him.

@@spiderpromos I met Tommy many times in London and Dublin. A phenomenal musician and a lovely, kind, soul. Sadly, he left us way too soon.
