1:14:32 (Explanation for Mr. Jones) I believe that when the cue ball is so close to the rail that it is sometimes spinning more than the normal amount. In other words when it would be rolling without sliding. Mathematically angular velocity is now greater than v/r this happens when the cue ball is struck higher than 7/10ths it's radius or the point of percussion. (Assuming a level cue.) This is also why it is easier to control topspin than draw--after a certain distance the amount of spin (excluding side) is indepent of cueing height and only dependent on cueball velocity (omega =v/r)
@dummy999 Жыл бұрын
When does the cueball ever roll before it slides? Isn't it only possible for the cueball to slide first then roll? (or just slide or just roll depending on speed/distance)

@@bigknocker2264 Google Majic Rack Pool. They are little thin films with holes to hole the balls in place. You can get very consistent and tight racks. But using them the pros got a little too good at repeating consistant breaks. That's a big reason why they rack the nine on the spot for nine ball these days if using those types of racks.

I guess they don't use the shot clock, or are very generous with it. E.g. at 1:21:13 SVB is way over time.But happens a lot. So why even run the clock?
@markinjhawkland724 Жыл бұрын
If you are down on the shot before the clock runs out you can stay down as long as you want and still leagally shoot. If you stand up after the clock runs out it's your extension. If you don't have an extension standing up is a foul. This rule is unique to this tourny AFAIK.

I think just nerves after having missed a simple shot. All match (before that) Shaw moved Shanes chalks around. Whether moving them out of line of sight or out of the cue stick path.
