Shane Warne has a very good eye for analysing the game... He comes up with a way of getting a batsman out and then sets him up for it using control and variation. Class bowling Warney.
@SuperShia78612 жыл бұрын
Indeed a very great tactic used by Warnie here. If you look closely, all the deliveries that precede the wicket delivery are all pitched either at or outside off-stump which assimilates the batsman to playing through the off side. And then comes the wicket ball drifting and pitching outside leg - a surprise - and turning just enough to get the tip of leg-stump.

The bowl spins generally for two playes what i saw during 90s, one-Shane and another Murlidharan. The best way to deal with them was agressive if you are short heightened and if you are tall, defensive with front foot where balls drops. Sachin Tendulkar and Ravi Shastri both used in the same manner against spinners. I think Sachin has made 155 or 158 against australia with the same technique.

Good plan it may have been but it's also a case of Powell not having the skill of a batsmen to sweep him and expect the ball to spin back in. It's overpitched and probably unlikely to have got a batsmen looking to knock Warne off his length. Warne was still a great tactician and a huge player for Australia. Probably the best leg spinner ever in the game.

McGill was the unluckiest bowler ever. He was the classical leggie - huge turn (yes, bigger than Warne's), a great googly but one ball every couple of overs was a shocker. He was certainly good enough to have walked in to any other Test team.. But this video shows just why Warne kept him relegated him to the second stringer - unbelievable control and variation. McGill would reliably run through the opposition on a fifth day wicket; Warne threatened to run through them whatever the day.
