Cocktail recipe from the Peace Hotel in Shanghai
"Madame Fleur"
1/2 oz - Gin
1/2 oz - Cognac
1/2 oz - Chamomile Syrup (details below)
1/2 oz - fresh lemon juice
2 oz (or so) - Sparkling wine
Put first 4 ingredients in shaker with ice and shake vigorously
Add sparkling wine to chilled coupe or martini glass
Strain chilled drink into glass and add lemon peel twist as garnish. Enjoy!
Chamomile Syrup is easier than it sounds. Make strong chamomile tea and then add equal amount of sugar and tea to saucepan. Heat until sugar is melted and then cool.

It's so wonderful to have found Samantha's own travel channel after having watched just about every episode of her show on the Travel Channel since the first one aired decades ago, with a particular fond memory of her first time in China having some guy pouring her tea out of a tea pot, with a ridiculously long spout.

@@RealSamanthaBrown I think it was your very first trip to China, which took place while you were lounging in the hotel lobby.

As a Chinese, I am so glad to accidentally come across your channel on KZbin, since I have been a fan of your TV travel program for more than a decade. Thank you for your straightforward positive comments on your China trip which could remove a lot of misunderstandings and bias about China from your audience. I am looking forward to watching more episodes of your China trip.

Samantha Brown! I have been a fan of yours for many years. After several years of, well, life happening, I moved my family to Chengdu, China, in September 2022. I tell people that I love to travel so much that I decided to move to the China in the middle of a pandemic. I mean, why not?!? I stumbled across your video in Xi'an today and, of course, subscribed to your channel. Like you, I absolutely LOVE China and have fallen in love with its people and culture over the past year and a half. Please, if you're interested in visiting Chengdu, let me know because I would love to show you around! It's so good to see you on YT and I look forward to following you along your world travels.

I grew up in Shanghai. Everyday, retirees gathers to sing and dance at parks all over Shanghai. Same in other cities.

Whenever I see American influence of jazz in the 20s and 30s, I often wonder if China didn't go through turmoil in 30s and 40s where China could had been! I am happy to see China has play catch up economically past 40 years and revived many traditions of old that were destroyed in Mao era! As Chinese I agree we're of civilization nation that always find our way back to our roots from countless internal turmoils and foreign invasions ( Mongol, Manchu, Western power, Japanese ) to thrive again! Just hope China and Taiwan can reunite peacefully in my life time from a old Chinese perspective!

as a Chinese, I'm quite shocked by your very direct positive impression of China. I live in Germany right now, heard too much blackmouthing about China, so much prejudice and bias.

To me pronounsation is not that important because the most important thing is understanding, accepting, learning and give in/out, on the program....🙂😁

Please revisit China again, China has changed so much since then. To name a few, “ Hanfu”, “EV”, “ drone shows” weren’t a thing back then.
